To that end, for budget speakers, I'd recommend something like Elac Debut, Kef Q series, (both of which Andrew Jones at least had some historical influence on) SVS Prime, or my personal budget favorite, Ascend Acoustic's Signature Series by Dave Fabrikant.
I've personally owned Monoprice's Monolith Encore speakers, which at one point could be had with C6 bookshelves, C6 Center and two sets of C5 surrounds (7.1) for around $1k on sale. I think they were the best deal going for a while in that price range, but the full line does not appear to still be available (Encore C6 Center is no longer listed). The other speakers listed above are likely an "upgrade" over the Encore speakers, albeit more expensive.

That's subjective. But for the price you can't really beat it. I bought just the pair of tower speakers last month for $210 and have been happy with them for my use.
If you're an audiophile you'll probably be disappointed. But if you want something that sounds good to an average Joe go for it.
Dayton Audio is known for their best bang for your buck subwoofers.
Let me put it this way... The 5-Channel set up will be 95% than most sound bars !!
Overkill. I'd go for a 2.1 setup.

5 channel Black
7 channel Black
(those are NOT 5.1 or 7.1 so no Subwoofer)
Not sure if you can order for later delivery when they are back in stock
Didnt he go to another company? I think i looked into this and found some speakers made by him, which now cost $$$$$ :/

And yes, he's with MoFi now making speakers that have a concentric driver design, start at a grand a piece, and are geared toward the vinyl community.
