Just a heads up. The address listed on Rove Dashcam's website is actually a rented private mailbox (PMB) at a UPS Store. That's kind of like the equivalent of using a gmail for business. It may signal something about the company's level of establishment. Worth keeping in mind.

If you research online from (dashcamtalk, project farm, and others) they will lead you to VIOFO A119 mini 2 or REDTIGER F7NP. Better cams for a few bucks more
Not a true 4k dash cam. Also overheats and resets often

Can I attach this to the outside of my trailer and use it to see what is going on behind me, backing up, etc.? Is it weather proof enough? I can figure out how to get 12V to it. Thanks in advance.

This Rove-R2 Dual uses Sony Starvis 2 IMX675 and not the IMX678 camera lens. It's upscaled to support 4k.

The IMX678 is an 8.3MP sensor designed for 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) recording, while the IMX675 is a 5.12MP sensor suitable for 2K (2560 x 1440p) recording.
What you're saying is true but where did you get ROVE R2 Dual is IMX675?

I returned this one as license plates were not readable enough compared to my much older camera I was replacing. Okay for the price, but there are much better cameras if you are willing to spend a bit more.

No, not water proof. Look into backup cameras that mount to your license plate. Tie it into the lights.

These promo post are getting bad, just because this camera hit $199 3 times and 99.9% of the time it's not is falling on false advertising on SDs site camelcamelcamel(dot)com /product/B0D6J5B98H

I have this dash cam. I was hoping it would be better than my viofo a119 from 5+ years ago but its about the same. If anything I feel the a119 was clearer. Honestly I regret buying this and will just get viofo next time even though its pricier. I feel its clearer for plates. Pro is that this is cheap and includes rear cam.

Comparing this to VIOFO a229 pro. Both have nearly identical specs but VIOFO is almost triple in price without sd memory. I like VIOFO, I have a mini 2 but for $90, I'm considering ROVE.
Specs aren't everything. There are already multiple posts addressing this including recs to watch project farm. Go ahead and get the rove, you can't be helped.

I have this camera installed on our SUV (I bought it from a different deal at $99 I think). I have the rear camera connected as well as the hard wired fuse kit (which allows you some additional features, such as parking mode etc) So far, I have zero complaints. I have not needed the video for evidence or anything yet (knock on wood), but I have pulled several clips of aggressive driving and near misses to show my wife and to test, since owning. I'd say, I'm very pleased with the overall video quality (even though it apparently isn't true 4K) and have had no problems pulling license plate numbers and other details from the few clips I downloaded in daytime as well as night. IMO; for less than $100 this is amazing and seems like a steel. I may purchase a couple more for our other vehicles.

Did you use ROVE parking harness or different manufacturer? Curious if I can use my VIOFO harness with this camera, both are usbc.

Yes, it is the Rove kit

I imagine your existing harness would work as both front and rear are powered via USBC
