Don't buy this, motherboard is really bad, Junk. VRM trash tier. 5+2+2, Discreet Mosfet, Not using power stages.

Lowest of the low. These boards blow up easily, and the deal gets even worse if you add replacement cost and labor
it's true if you try to put a 16 core cpu in this. it's good enough to handle 9600x
Perfect for a boot drive. Stop spreading terrible information.

I just picked up a similar bundle from Newegg last week. Just be aware that this motherboard doesn't support PBO out of the box if you want to setup undervolting for better temps like I did. You need to flash a different BIOS to get it working. There is a Reddit thread about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/overcloc...NsZpeiG5dP

Someone list a bundle with a better power phase setup that is around $350. Otherwise not seeing the issue.

Same price and perks but with a different board. Opinions please

Just an FYI this motherboard is bad, but only if your are actively Over clocking or have a very power hungry CPU you the 9600x is a 65watt TDP on a board with its VRM staging that can handle around 200 Watts without stressing things. Also the VRM has an active cooler. For this bundle you are getting a good enough board. Personally you would want to replace the board down the line, but the CPU and ram are good and if you take in account all that you are getting the cheap board isn't really as much of a downside as other say.

The issue is when you decide to upgrade the cpu down the road and it can't handle the much more powerful cpu you want to upgrade too. The reason why so many like AMD, is that the sockets don't change for a long time making the motherboard choice more important.

You can not get lower than this motherboard. It is actually THE lowest spec VRM B650 that is on the AM5 Master list.

The design is good for 150-200amps. Most b650 boards are between 600-1000amps. Using 10-30% capacity is the efficiency sweetspot for VRMs.

This board theoretically would require the VRMs to operate at nearly 50-90% to support the bigger chips.

The Overclock menu is disabled in bios, that's how weak the power delivery is. This is not a good board to start your build with. It's flashable to an unlocked version, but again, you're at the grace of unofficial motherboard bioses now, day and age where cybercrime is a Major Concern.

Part of the allure for me is having a PC that I can upgrade all the components. It appears the 9600x will be fine on this, but what if you want to upgrade to a 9800x3d or a newer gen part with higher power draw? Might not work out the best for you in the future.
It should work. But 9800x3d can pull 170watts with PBO, that will put the VRMs on edge.

The bios is locked for PBO boost, the reason for that is because of how weak the VRMs are.

There is an unlocked bios you can flash, but the point is, WHY would they do this. It's because of how de-tuned the whole board is. It's actually the Lowest VRM configuration listed for B650 on the AM5 master list. You want to be reliant on flashing unofficial bioses in this day and age where Cybercrime is a major concern?

It's like buying the absolute cheapest pair of slippers, it tears while you're walking, you fall into a ditch, scrape your knee, get an infection, and you die.

WHY do that, You can't save up another $50 to get something else?

Bad idea. How would you know if the CPU was used and developed issues before the bios updates? Stay away from intel 13th and 14th gens, maybe even 12th gen, and you're ended up w/ the pretty old 10th, 11th gens or barely tested ultras... headaches every way I look.
12th is fine, it was just 13 and 14 that went crazy, because Intel pushed it to explosion as they can't match AMD's performance.

Gonna see how a 9950x does on this mobo. It's got a 3 year warranty, so if it fails out the gate, I will replace it quickly and move on. Good deal otherwise. Thanks OP!

Well, sounds like you wouldn't mind upgrading the motherboard either

The motherboard is the hardest thing to change out. That's the one piece I don't want to have to upgrade

It'll be right on the edge without PBO, if you use the hacked bios with PBO, you can definitely push it over. They locked it in the official for a reason.

But gaming should be ok for most people. I just don't think it's worth penny pinching at this level if you intend to upgrade, this isn't exactly cheap.

9600X $200
Gigabyte B650M Gaming Plus $160. Pretty good for an AM5 motherboard that isn't A620 or refurb. (Unless the concerns above are correct.)
Corsair Vengeance 32 GB DDR5-6400 (right one?) $95

Looks like a great RAM choice. Easily beats out the $299 9600X / ASUS Prime B650M-A / 16 GB bundle.

I disagree. You can get 16GB more of DDR5 for $50. Then you've spent the same have the same basic parts, but end up with a superior motherboard.

While I'm happy to see more Newegg mobo + CPU + RAM (and sometimes, + M.2) bundles, it seems like they're sticking to the 7600X / 9600X and this same motherboard

I can't speak personally on the board, so I can only go by the warnings here and the reviews on Newegg

Looks like the ~$300 bundle from November had CL32 RAM instead of CL36 and a 1TB M.2 instead of 500GB, aside from being a 9600X instead of a 7600X of course. Prices in the past for their 7600X bundles range from ~$300 to $350

I've been wanting to upgrade for a while, but really want an 8-core CPU, and I'm not planning on upgrading down the line, although a good AM5 mobo is nice. At this point I'm not sure if I should wait for the Micro Center in Santa Clara to eventually open; I've been eyeing their $400 7700X bundle for a while now

How does this deal compare to the bundles Micro Center offers?

500GB drive in 2025 is criminally low I'd say. It should only be showing up on low-end laptops or chromebooks. Basically it's $349 for the CPU, MoBo and 32GB RAM. Not bad.
Dude you would use it only for os drive and get another one for everything else
