This is not a hiking shoe by any means. It's a trail running shoe with a carbon plate designed for races. It's apparently not very stable and I've heard multiple reviewers say it's scary on descents.

I am the satisfied owner of many Saucony shoes and run trail races and I still skipped this model after reading reviews.

I did once see someone come in first at a parkrun on pavement with them which was kind of wild.

Definitely a Saucony fan, most of their hikers are great. Unfortunately no wide, hard to find on sale.

I'm a long distance trail runner and would be hesitant to buy these - most professional reviewers highlight these being scary for downhill descents. Likewise, reviewers stated you need a fast pace (less than 8min miles) to gain the stability - slower paces cause rotation due to the spongy outsole. Finally, most stated going down 0.5 to 1 size to counter the minimally structured upper to ensure a wrapped fit with minimal forefoot internal movement.

I'm guessing a lot of folks will be returning these unless they did their research and knew this stuff!

The Endorphin Rift is way better than the Edge but even that Saucony trail shoe is not without its problems.

Saucony is a struggling shoe brand. The parent company has been losing money for several years. The stock price is down over 80% since 2021. They have a lot of debt. Saucony's annual sales revenue has been stagnant for 3 years and the brand's market share has been on a downward trajectory for the past decade.

Saucony was wear testing an Endorphin Edge V2 last year but apparently that project was abandoned. The Endorphin Rift, arguably their most decent trail offering, was unceremoniously discontinued last fall. Saucony has basically pulled the plug on their Endorphin trail line. The Endorphin trail models just never gained any traction with consumers. The endeavor got off to a rocky start in 2021 with the Endorphin Trail which had to be pulled from the market due to a midsole chemistry defect.

The CEO quit and his replacement was fired in 2023. The current CEO is running the company a like private equity chop shop. He sold off units and cut licensing deals for some of the company's brands. The new CEO is hyper focused on containing costs and reducing debt. Innovation has been deprioritized. In fact, some of the brightest minds at Saucony have decamped for other footwear companies. Saucony shoes are mid to meh. It's a shame to see Saucony go down the toilet.
Thanks

I bought this from Amazon 2 days ago. Shoes came today but they are used. Now I have to return them; big waste of time.

I had a pair of Peregrines (around 2016) which I loved and still use for barn chores and yard work. I got a newer pair in about 2021 and the toe box was significantly smaller, which makes the comfort and functionality worse. This is personally why I stopped buying their shoes. Do you know if they're still using the narrow toe box or if they fixed those issues? I'm currently looking at topo athletic, mostly for hiking and light running on dirt roads.

I have no experience with the Peregrine line. But the Endorphin Rift, which was released in 2023 and discontinued in 2024, has a reasonably accommodating fit width and height wise in the forefoot. However, Topo is definitely going to outshine Saucony in this department. The only issue with Topo is that their a small fringe brand and not many retailers carry their shoes.

More like 67.5% down from the peak of the stock.. but you are referencing the peak of the stock. Your doom analysis of the stock is unwarranted considering most stocks are down, i.e. nvida is bankrupt because their stock is down 30% from their peak!
