In for 8 of these things. I love the Kobalt brand and they back their warranties as well so if any of these do die on me, they have a super easy 3 year warranty. Thank you for the deal!!

Look at the reviews. Hidden beyond the fake aggregate and AI summary is a sea of reviews talking about how these things die after a few uses.

I think most of the reviews you're seeing on this are for the original 4.0aH ultimate output battery which was known to have issues. They usually died right outside the warranty window which is what happened to all of mine. This 8.0 AH has only been around since 2022 or so and I've not heard of it having the same issues but as always, caveat emptor and register it as soon as you get it

I am tempted to grab the kobalt batteries and grab an adapter off Amazon and use it in my DeWalt fan and vacuum.

can a 24 v battery drop down current if I am using in a DeWalt 20 v fan and vacuum w/o frying the fan or the vacuum?

it is $8.07 per Ah, which is pretty good.

The battery will deliver 24V to anything attached. But I'd do it anyway if I were you. lol

There is a 3 d printed adapter off eBay for $32 plus shipping for using the kobalt battery on a DeWalt 20 v tools. That is 1/2 the price of the battery. So you're all in at $96 for the kobalt battery and the 3 d printed adapter.

Does this apply to current stock of 4.0ah UO batteries or particular year releases?

Buy once cry once...stick with Milwaukee. Their Forge m18 batteries seem pretty well built

Adapting the connectors was never an issue. He asked about the difference in voltages specifically.

The original poster stated he planned on getting an adapter, which he obviously would need. Jackbauer24 reasonably focused on the price point of the total invested doing it that way.

What's the difference between these and the blue extended run time batteries that usually come with the tools?

these use 21700 cells that can supply higher current (samsung 50T), the regular ones use 18650 cells in a 2P configuration.

They have potential for a higher discharge rate which some but not all tools take advantage of. If you want to get the most torque out of tools like impact drivers/wrenches and circular saws use ultimate output. Ive mostly switched to Ridgid tools but im in for 2 because I absolutely love my aging Kobalt XTR impact driver and the sole 4ah ult output battery I've got for it is starting to not hold a charge like it used to. This is a crazy low price for an 8ah battery running 12x 21700 cells.

The 4.0 High Outputs are atrocious. I've had seven of them fail. The 8.0s are okay. Of the three I've had, only one has failed.

Keep your receipts. I did and it made warranty swaps easy enough.
