Reviews say the hardware is nicer than steam deck. The Intel graphics can be a pain...support for them is behind AMD.

Compared to steam deck, this comes with windows out of the box, which can be a plus or a minus depending on your planned usage.

This is a dead device. MSI already acknowledged it by releasing it's successor less than a year later. Don't throw away money on this unless you want it as a novelty

Yeah, this is one of those things where I picked up a refurbished Steam Deck last week, and as I wait for it see deals like this and start having buyers remorse, only to see posts like yours and realize quite a number of devices are very good spec wise and on paper look good, but not completely engineered for the primary purpose of gaming and are more or less just making something to jump on a hot trend to make a quick buck.

Reviews on these devices at launch were utter garbage, software implementation when it came to gaming was very very poor. Some people says its improved since launch but besides poor software and even worse battery life, and it already being replaced by another device, this is a pass.

Msi will be releasing a version with AMD. The version of this with steam os would be killer. I'm waiting for that.

By the same logic the computer / phone / tablet you used to post your comment must also be a "dead device" because (whomever) has already planned or released a successor.

Every device is "dead" in terms of factory hardware updates the second it leaves the assembly line. All other updates are pure software and being this is a Windows device is not dependent on MSI for those. If this had a proprietary non-open source OS that was abandoned by the Dev, then perhaps your comment might make sense.

That being said I think the Legion or ROG Ally is a better handheld Windows based gaming handheld. The Steam Deck is still king overall even if the hardware is slightly slower.

Great device if you know how to tweak and go into the advanced bios to setup for better performance.

Better than a Z2 and a steal since they got bad reviews on launch but the drivers have caught up. Same for the Steam Deck at launch, drivers were not ready. Another good thing about this is that the drivers are direct from Intel, so no waiting.

What is the successors name? I've been looking for something like this or a gaming laptop to have for work.

Basically a normal handheld PC so it's never a dead device. Better than the new AMD Z2. Battery and performance are on par with any other handheld, but have to tweak the advanced bios. Now, plugged in, this runs circles around any of the AMD ones. Also has Thunderbolt so you can use external graphics cards!
