This model has a peak brightness of 600 nits. Is that considered bright? Some other models I've been looking at is 900nits....so 600 nits seems kind of low right?
For HDR that is low and you won't get good performance. You want at least 1000 nits for good HDR performance.
Same size, not worth it unless you have burnin. I went from a 77" LG C2 OLED to 98" TCL QM751 MiniLED for $1700. If you dial in settings I'd say MiniLED looks just as good, defintely when looking at price of 97" OLED being $18k. If you could get a 85" OLED for $1000 it would be hands down better. This QD7 has no info about amount of dimming zones. There are no rtings review out for it yet that I can find. Them naming it the QD7 makes it more confusing as reviews online for QD7 all refer to QD7N which is QLED, not MiniLED, and contrast sucks. MiniLED can be very good but looking foward to MicroLED in next few years.
Qled is just the color filter, so it can be QLED and miniled which is the backlight.
There are QLED and then QLED MiniLED. Most QLED have less dimming zones.
Your rtings link is for QD7N, the tv in this post is a QD7QF
QD7N is 2024 QLED, QD7QF is 2025 QLED MiniLED
as the rtings review says for 2024 version
2.2 Contrast score which sucks
Contrast
1,402 : 1
Native Contrast
1,402 : 1
The Hisense QD7 has terrible contrast, even compared to cheaper models like the Hisense QD6/QD65NF QLED. Blacks are raised and look gray when any highlights are also on the screen, and the TV lacks a local dimming feature to improve its contrast. For a budget TV with better contrast, check out the TCL S5/S551G.
most brands brag about dimming zone count, this doesnt mention it so I have a feeling its lackluster. Later reviews will tell for sure. As for now there isn't a single review for 2025 version.

As a heads up, Total plus members get an extra $100 back in rewards on TVs $999 or more.
Thanks for the heads up on this. I still have my total tech until the end of the year which was I am considering canceling. Do you know if this will include free TV mount thing at this price if your total Tech?
Costco QD7 for 799.99 I was planning to buy it this weekend. Anyone have a better suggestion for $1000 tv at costco? Thanks
The one for $799.99 @ Costco is the 2024 QD75N series (Direct-Lit / no local dimming). If you're not in a hurry you could wait to see if Costco gets the 2025 QD7QF series from this thread since it adds Mini-LED and local dimming.
