I played xcom2 without playing xcom1. Not sure what I'm missing not playing xcom1 but I still had fun.

My first turn based game I've ever played. Lol the different colored squares confused me at first.

The collection is well worth it. 100 hours of game play easily and it will fly by. It is known as the turn base tactical game for a reason and still holds up. And this is before even talking about mods.

Oh boy here I go saving the world again.... According to Steam I have over 100 hours in the game and come back almost every year. Mods are mature now in Steam Collections including QOL mods, extra maps, minor overhauls, voice packs, armor etc...
Every time I go back, I get a new collection of mods and the game feels fresh again.

Man. I wanted to like that first one, and I tried more than once, only for it to crush my heart under its alien boot, again and again.
What's funny is that the old games are apparently way harder.

UFO Defense was an absolute brutal monster, but it was SO good back then. You could spend hours and hours beating a single mission.
There used to be a bug where the game automatically switched you to a harder difficulty and didn't tell you. 🤣

Night time terror missions were insane, both in difficulty and tension and stress level. And if you didn't accept the mission, cvilians would die and the country would pull out of the X-Com project and you lose funding, so you kinda had to take these missions.. But the beauty of the game is, you always had a choice.

XCOM and XCOM2 absolutely nail the "just one more turn" loop. You have been warned
