Do we need to still worry about cheap USB C to A cables potentials missing the 56K resistor or are all these cables okay to use now without worry?

Is any cheap cable worth the small savings when you can buy a less cheap cable and worry less? Any cable can wear or fail but hopefully never by causing a fire or damaging a device.

I would use cheap cables all the time without issue but recently 1 cable gave me heating problems but my Samsung phone let me know about overheating due to cable.

Have not cause fire...I think my phone just stop charging with the cable when it gave me the overheating notice so not sure if it would had started a fire if I didn't remove the cable when it gave me the notice.

How do you know what is too cheap vs a cheap one for a high price?

Aren't all the protections built into the device anyway? I've plugged my phones into some pretty sketchy cables and it can almost always figure out if something is wrong (water, debris, unstable connection, slow charging, etc.)

Let me get some $30 charging cables to charge my $20 vape, my $5 fire tablet from woot, my $15 barcode scanner, my $15 electric shaver, my $50 Xbox controller and my $69 earbuds 🤡

If you're using these cheap ass cables to charge your iPhone 16 Pro Max Extreme Plus, yeah it's a bit weird. You're going to get a super slow charge out of them and you risk possibly damaging your device. But with so many things using USB-C now, and not wanting to dedicate a $12 Anker cable to them (and a charging brick), it's convenient to have these. Especially the fact it's USB-A makes it much easier to find somewhere to plug it into than using a USB-C brick and USB-C to USB-C cable. Moreso than the low price is the fact that the USB C has a USB A connector on the other side which seems to be less common nowadays

I used the cheap cables for appleplay. Omg the amount of times they give up halfway on the highway. I'm thankful to be stuck in traffic during those times.

I slow charger my iPhone 16 pro over nights it's better for battery life. I use an old iPad power block with a USB A to C cable I got from Aldi. I still have few items that still run of micro usb i.e. my Li-ion battery charger, I'll keep these USB A blocks for as long as I can.

With lifetime warranty from a company that won't exist after your purchase while a new company emerges with a name typed from clapping their butt cheeks on the keyboard.
