Plus if you are staying at a Disney resort you can leave a credit card at the start then anytime 24 hours before your checkout you can go to the front desk and pay down your balance using the gift cards.
Also disneygiftcards.com, which is actually run by Disney, will let you register your cards and move balances between them. So what we do is register all the card, consolidate the money between two of them, toss the old ones that now have $0 balance, and then me and my wife each carry one. This way if we forget one in the room or lose it we can just login and transfer the balance to the other one. Although once you get used to just paying with your magic band you'll usually not take then out at all.

Your interest on $860 would't be anywhere near the $140 savings yet, so you're still up. Go book a flight(s). Opportunity cost is one thing, and everyone loses on idle cash at the rate of inflation.
Per SWA website.
We will not charge standard checked bag fees for your first or second checked bag for any reservations booked and ticketed or changed on or before May 27, 2025

I hope that Southwest fails miserably in all of this so it's a lesson to any other company who wants to try to piss off all of it's customers in search of a slightly higher profit margin.

I used to drive an extra hour to fly Southwest because they were different than the other big 3. Now? I just checked flights for Thanksgiving and they're just as much as everybody else, and will have the bullshit bags, assigned seating, etc. Why the heck would I keep flying Southwest if they're no better than anyone else??
SW's problems go far beyond the actual plane experience- it's an outdated business model and they had abicus-wielding drunk monkeys running their paper tiger operations behind the scenes. Niceties get a company so far. When you become beholden to investors you get what you pay for. As a customer, I'm not pissed.

Southwest was successful because they weren't solely focused on maximizing short-term profits over long-term growth. They didn't have big, splashy profits one quarter, then have to go begging for a bailout from the government the next. They built their business on a dedicated group of customers who loved them and were willing to overlook things like having to travel farther for a flight, older planes, etc. Now they've pissed all that away in the hopes of getting other clients to pay more. Will it work? Who knows. They've definitely lost me as a customer, though.
