Sheesh, that character on the bottle gives me the creeps—it looks like some bizarre, phallic, perverted version of a VeggieTales character. Maybe those vegetables are kinkier than we thought. I think it's supposed to be a representation of a blood platelet, though...

Despite being creeped out, I'm in for one at $1.64 shipped after all the discounts via S&S. Thanks, OP!

I got one last month. I found the taste terrible, very metallic. But the price is amazing. I tried to swallow one whole instead of chewing it but the sugar crystals on the outside hurt my throat. Anyone have any tips on how to eat them without tasting them?

I think we're both wrong—blood platelets [wikipedia.org] are shaped like plates, hence their name.

In my defense, the info on the product's bottle mentions blood, so while I was thinking, "WTF is this creature???" only platelets came to mind. That, and some kinky, unholy adult toy...

New marketing technique. Increase the price of a $2 iron supplement to $15. Then offer a 50% discount. Then offer a $5 discount on top. And what a deal! Everyone starts buying it.

I bought it too.

I think the low dosage is intentional for safety. Unlike most other supplements, where excess amounts are simply flushed out through urination, iron can accumulate in the body. Having too much iron in your system can lead to some nasty effects [goodrx.com]. In my opinion, these supplements are designed to provide a slight, safe boost to your iron intake.

I'm hoping to use these to aid recovery after donating blood at the Red Cross. After a year of giving blood every three months, I do feel a bit weaker overall. I'm hoping this is psychosomatic, though, and that the iron supplements will have a positive psychological effect, regardless of whether they're actually effective or not.

Oh, thank goodness for that! I think Gandhi [goodreads.com] said it best and I'm glad to be rid of those twisted sanctimonious vegetables. Verily it's Pasta, Pirates, and Strippers for me. May His Noodle touch you as well!

That's actually an old marketing technique. Department stores are the king of this type of marketing. But it works.

I can't tell if everyone is joking or not. It's an "I" for Iron. All the other ones are shaped like letters in that line....I must be taking the C shaped pills for Crazy.
