Not mentioned anywhere at Best Buy, but they seem to have increased the local dimming zones to 1152 compared to the previous model. If the dark pixel transition times have also been reasonably improved this might be the one. I'll wait for some technical reviews.

HDMI 2.1 would have been nice for guaranteed VRR console support, but I guess that $1 per port is still too much for these cheapo manufacturers...

It's a fast VA panel which is great and miniled. I posted this on Reddit after buying it(comes in today)

Where did you get the older model for that price? Thanks!

On paper yes, but we won't know definitively until Monitors Unboxed or RTINGS does a full review.

I have an Acer X275K P3 that I paid twice as much ($600 + tax) for and I hate it. The IPS panel they used does not lend itself well to FALD, even 1 degree off center and it blooms like crazy, it's so distracting. I use black wallpaper so it's extremely noticeable around the desktop icons and kind of a worst case scenario, but it's still an issue during any dark scenes in games/movies. Plus Acer never released a single firmware update to address any issues, not one.

I saw a photo comparing the Q27G3XMN to the X275K P3 (wish I could find it again but don't remember where) and it's a night and day difference with horizontal axis shift blooming, and the Q27G3XMN only has 336 zones compared to the new 40 model's 1152. VA is just better for FALD mini-LED implementations.

There's always a chance AOC screwed something up badly enough that despite the extra dimming zones this monitor still isn't worth upgrading to, so I'd wait for professional testing.

I got a similar KTC model this one has more zones and a bit higher brightness. Looks good for the price though... if the VA panel is like mine its incredibly solid for gaming. Very little smearing at high refresh rates.

Yeah a good VA panel pairs better with these minileds... the blooming isn't as bright due to the innate better VA contrast.

VA panels can be basically just as good as IPS depending on the quality or they can be too blurry to be usable for anything other than casual gaming. It's on a case by case basis. At it's best I prefer VA over IPS hands down.

I almost bought the P3 last year. The reviews for it were pretty damn good, for an IPS panel, and I believe even Monitors Unboxed gave it good marks, in addition to RTings. But the user reviews were not as good and that firmware update issue was brought up a few times, too. Glad I avoided it.

I don't know if the Innocn M2V-something was going to be any better but the G3XMN was the one recommended to me if I wasn't going to go OLED but wanted the best gaming experience.
