Yep, that's what I'll be doing. Opt for in store pickup so they can take the trade on the spot instead of mailing it in.

An unlocked bootloader is only good for those wanting to flash a custom ROM, which almost no one does these days. Plus, it reduces the phone's security and makes you more vulnerable to hacking.

Also, when the 7 years of security updates are up, it would make more sense to trade it for a newer Pixel rather than flashing a custom ROM and continuing using it. The battery would no longer hold its charge as good and would be barely usable.

Hmm...going to check but my dad needs a phone and he still calls me because he is clueless.

He has a Pixel 7 with a cracked screen but still functions. Well BB says $158 trade-in with cracked screen condition +$100 gift card +$100 for activation.
That means the phone is only about $150 + tax? This would be great for him.
