Just had my first experience with Ryobi warranty claim on a backpack sprayer, one of the worst experiences on a warranty claim ever. A year and a half and the hose is rotting away and they are saying it's a wear item. This is after sending me to a repair center that did not repair outdoor stuff.

To avoid burning up the 12v motors, I would implement a 30amp fuse at a minimum.
I converted my kids several years ago with Ryobi batteries also implemented a motor speed controller. The speed controller allows you to lower voltage which will reduce speeds and prolong the motors life.

The products i linked to dont require wago connectors because you screw the wires into the voltage controller and one comes with fuses inline already as well to protect from overheating. The controller has a knob so you can control the speed (and avoid burning out the motor or gears too quickly). You will need a way to cut and strip the ends of the wires so the wires make good contact with the metal on the voltage controller you screw them in to. Harbor freight has Pittsburgh brand wire strippers for $5.99.

I am tempted by this, have you run into any issues with high current draw tools? Currently in the Ryobi ecosystem and looking to expand out into M18. Easier to swallow if I could use M18 batteries in Ryobi.

I would recommend a step down buck converter to change to around 14v. I used 18v on my kids and it was crazy fast doing burnouts and whatever but fried the gears after a month. I feel like 14v would be the sweet spot. Just make sure the buck converter will handle 200w. My 2c.

Me too but this has the 2 slot charger compared to a single slot. I thought it was worth the $10 more so I bought another set.

Yes, that was one of the links i sent. The full 18v on a 12v toy is going to chew the gears up. Unfortunately my kids figured out the dial and do burnouts in the driveway!
