Chase Freedom or Sapphire cardholders: Redeem 2250 Reward Points for $25 eBay GC

+23 Deal Score
29,812 Views
For Chase credit cardholders, they currently have a (10%) sale on redeeming reward points for certain gift cards. The eBay one seemed like the only decent one, assuming you don't have better ways of redeeming your Ultimate Rewards points (i.e., like getting an additional 25%/50% bonus when redeeming for travel with Chase Sapphire).

eBay 2250 = $25

(filter for Sale to see all. Or just search for the eBay one)

For Chase Freedom, the other ones are:
Arbys, Fandango, H&M, IHOP, Krispy Kreme, Lowes, Zaxbys, One4all Happy Moments, One4all Happy Birthday

For Chase Sapphire, the other ones are:
Fandango, H&M, IHOP, Krispy Kreme, One4all Happy Moments, One4all Happy Birthday
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Aren't the points best used to transfer from csp to Hyatt? Most say it's a 2:1 ratio which works well for additional Hyatt nights on top of the annual free night with the Hyatt card.

Ratio is still 1:1, but Hyatt values their points a lot higher, meaning a $200/night rate could be as little as 5,000 points, which is equivalent to only $50 if you did a "pay yourself back" redemption, or bought a gift card.

This gift card offer is not a good deal, like some others have said (and got downvoted to oblivion). Maybe if you have the Freedom flex or freedom unlimited and not planning to transfer to a partner or use the chase travel portal, this is better than straight cash back…?

This gift card values the points at only 1.1¢, which is not great for Chase Sapphire Preferred or Reserve users. These annual fee cards the points are worth at least 1.25¢ or higher if used appropriately.

IMO, the better question is, why is one paying a high annual fee for a travel credit card if they're not using their points for travel? Downgrade to a credit card without an annual fee

I guess I'm "rare". I never use points for travel/transfer and have both Sapphire cards. I prefer CASH BACK.
For cash back, freedom unlimited can provide 3 points per dollar for dining and 5 points for booking travels at Portal, and ink preferred can provide 3 points per dollar for booking travel directly. Why you need CSR? I only hold it for 50% additional cash back when booking travels at portal...

For cash back, I prefer a big ol' SUB and cash out. A $1K bonus on $5K spend is 20 points per dollar. I have plenty of cards, but use them only when not working on a SUB.

Fair enough, but what are your everyday spend cards? It makes no sense to hold the CSR for more than a year if you don't travel.

I have a 15-column Cheat Sheet spreadsheet - cards across the top, categories down the side - and all of the various cashback percentages populated inside the matrix. I print it a few days before the start of every quarter and carry it in my wallet. I use whichever card maximizes cashback for the spend category.

Your more important point of there not being a point to holding the CSR for more than a year remains unaddressed.

It's an iPhone. Don't smash it or lose it and you will have no worries. Now my second time doing this. iPhone 12 Pro working perfectly when sold on marketplace. Not to mention you can still purchase Apple care if you are that paranoid.

Be sure to include the annual fee, CSP = -$23.75/quarter or CSR = -$137.50/quarter

Otherwise, sounds like you'd be better off with Robinhood 3% card and the Citi Double Cash

No annual fee the first year when I opened CSP in June 2021. Closed after one year w/in 41 days for no fee. Received $750 in referrals, so I guess include that, too. (Taxable.) Have BoA CCR that gets me 5.25% on many of my expenditures. USB Cash+ gets 5% back on utilities. Three CFFs get enough 5% on other categories including PP so that I have more available spend than I can use. No use for RH or Citi DC.

If you maintain a spreadsheet that encompasses 15 different CCs, the safe assumption is that you know how to play the game.

I redeemed 9000 points on my plain CF card for a $100 eBay GC in March so this deal has been going for a while. For some reason, only physical GC was available. Home Depot used to be my favorite but I haven't shopped there lately (and 10% off HD GC is getting rare).
