Elitism of this nature will empty your pockets unnecessarily quick. AM4 is still very relevant. Maybe no reason for you to buy but there are 8 billion other people on this planet who aren't you.
Just because it isn't the latest doesn't mean it's garbage -- this is still a powerful processor
Great deal. If you are on AM4 and still on 1 or 3 series I'd jump on this.

Decided to upgrade from a 2600x on the oldest PC in the house. Should be a decent upgrade, for sure.

Should be able to easily skip am5, and first gen or two of am6

I mean, it's a meaningful upgrade but the big upgrade with this is having full PCI-e 4.0 for SSDs and newer GPUs if you are on B550.
Depends ifnyour mobo is b550 or x570. Even without pci3, the cache on the cpu will help.

Ryzen 7 works with Windows 11.
2nd gen and up. Though it's simple enough if you build a Rufus installer.

One man's garbage is another's gaming rig. I am happy server farms started tossing out x58 and x99 cpus for peanuts. Half the fun is cheap thrills. Plus keeping up with tech for bragging rights is how we go broke and make eWaste. Save the dollars for a rainy day and count them pennies for deals.

I was researching this as an upgrade to 3600XT and it doesnt seem like much improvement. Wish they had those 5700x3d in production still...
There would be some improvement in some games. But not as obvious as a 5700x3D. If you can afford double, go for it. I bought this thing just because I like having the wraith prism cooler. That's at least 30 of the cost.

Nice upgrade for a 5500 workstation. Going to pick up an entry level GPU and give it to the kids.

Gonna swap out my 3600 for this.

Any cheap boards and ram I can use for a 3600 second build?

I have a second system with a Ryzen 7 1700 with a B450, with my main a 5600x on B550, I'm thinking upgrade the 5600x with this and replace the 1700 with the 5600x. Or just get a 5500 for the second system?

Do you use the 2nd system a lot? Why would you want to upgrade our second system? I usually upgrade my main system and pass down the parts to the 2nd or 3rd system, so upgrading your 5600x seems better to me.

I have a Noctua U12A. I assume that's more than capable to cool the 5800xt.

However, is it worth upgrading from the 3700x for mainly esports titles (and single player games every now and then)? My GPU is a 5080.

I bought one. Absolute steal @ price to performance! Piecing together a rig for the kiddo and wife to share and this will be a great addition to the build. Pairing with a 3x 2070 super I picked up for $175 a few days ago.
