Elitism of this nature will empty your pockets unnecessarily quick. AM4 is still very relevant. Maybe no reason for you to buy but there are 8 billion other people on this planet who aren't you.
Just because it isn't the latest doesn't mean it's garbage -- this is still a powerful processor
Great deal. If you are on AM4 and still on 1 or 3 series I'd jump on this.

My mistake, I assumed with the naming scheme
Yeah, AMD got a confusing name here, 5900X is 12 cores, but 5900XT is 16 cores. It's only 0.1Ghz slower than 5950X, actually should be 5950X-. So AMD gave the name of 5900XT means it's better than 5900X.

Newegg price matched. And free ram.
It's $164 at Newegg not $129 like others have pointed out too. I doubt if they did match the $129 they would still include the "free" ram. Are you saying you did get it at $128 PLUS the free ram? So far you haven't responded to anyone.

AMD has to stop making them, first

With how fragile newer nodes have been with yields it makes sense AMD is still doing wafer starts on 7nm for AM4 chips.

A worthy upgrade from 5600x? With 3060ti for gaming?

I have the same config, probably worth getting the 5700X3D for a bigger performance boost.

This is a totally awesome upgrade if you're still rocking AM4 Ryzen 1x, 2x, 3x. If you're on a 4x already, eh save your money for later upgrade or GPU upgrade.

I upgraded from a 1700x, to a 3700x, to a 5700x all on same AM4 mobo with bios updates and some mild cooling updates. With a GTX 4070 and 32gb ram, I'm in no rush to jump to AM5 just yet.

same boat...getting this seems like it would be the last cpu upgrade for AM4 before going up to AM5. However, I don't think you'll see that much improvement in gaming with the 3060ti. Getting a better GPU and keeping the 5600x would put you comfortably in 1440p gaming if that's what you're looking for.
At this price, it seems like the best value considering the x3d chips are hard to find brand new.

I've got a Ryzen 5 5600G paired with a 6700XT on 3440 x 1440 for gaming. What kind of real world gains are we talking and would it be worth the upgrade? Thanks in advance.
I mean, it's a meaningful upgrade but the big upgrade with this is having full PCI-e 4.0 for SSDs and newer GPUs if you are on B550.

Depends what you want to do with it, if you have a Ryzen 1600 or 2600 and mainly want an upgrade for gaming but not invest in a X3D one, the 5600 is fine.

My other desktop is 6 years old running 3700x with 3080 TI, is this worth upgrading to? 1440p gaming and web surfing mostly.
