Tried this router when it first came out and returned it immediately. Coverage was god awful, the 6GHz band required line of sight or speeds would drop to single digits if it didn't disconnect completely, and speeds on the 5GHz band would get cut in half if you weren't facing the router. Even in ideal conditions signal and speeds were consistently worse than the Asus AC3200 it was replacing unless you were in the same room as the router. I don't know if it was external vs internal antennas, but it just couldn't penetrate walls or bodies very effectively.

Same experience as I had. I think it's mainly due to two things:
  • 1. It's using buggy Broadcom chips.
  • 2. Low-grain 3-4 dBi internal antennas.

I wouldn't call the 6 GHz band on this router line of sight but if you were facing an exterior wall less than 2 feet away. Signal strength would not be good. I was actually more disappointed in the 2.4ghz range than 6ghz. That being said for <1200 SQ ft this looks to be a steal for the performance you get and I would imagine its possible to get over 1GB in 90+% of a large apartment
