Well, they are nonstick to begin with, which means they will probably only last a few years anyway, so I don't think a detachable handle durability will really be a factor.

Wow, 15 pc sounds like a lot but it's kinda lame that it's actually only 5 pans.

I have an earlier model and the handles have held up fine. Spring on one went out but still fully functional. Overall for semi-disposable non-sticks they're great.

Also fwiw: We're 18 months in and non-stick is fine on all but will probably need to replace the ones we use most frequently at 2 year mark

how good are the removable handles for holding and in terms of longevity? Anyone with long-term experience with these?

I own these and have used them since the fall. The detachable handles work great and seem very sturdy. The pans are also pretty good / average in terms of usage. They look fantastic in a kitchen. Not very durable.
If you use the frying pan as a frying pan, it will discolor and scratch with normal use after a few months. I hand wash everything with the soft side of the sponge, no harsh cleaners, water, occasionally dish soap. The main pan is toast. Went back to using my heavy duty black non-stick which has lasted me over a year and still works as new.
I cook red pasta in the larger pans and have made red curries without too much issue. They still work / look pretty good.
I would not buy these again, but at $40 you're getting a lot of usable pans that look and function great.

Does anyone know what non-stick technology these pans use? I can't find it on the product page. Is it Teflon?

From their website - "Carote's non-stick coating is 100% free of PFOAs, PFAs, Lead, and Cadmium, making it safe for human use."

That doesn't tell me what it's made of though. I'd like to research what they are using before I pull the trigger

Let us know what you find. I'm curious as well (although I do use these pans myself)

Just go cast iron or carbon steel. Cancer rates are high enough.
