This is an entry-level laser engraver and cutter that is mainly intended for users who want to start with a lower-cost machine, but it can also engrave common materials like wood, leather, and non-transparent acrylic like higher power machines. The advantage over 20W or 40W engravers is that the laser spot is finer (0.06mm x 0.06mm), allowing for higher detail on engravings.
It is also capable of cutting thinner materials like plywood, cardboard, and various types of paper.

What you can do, however, is mask the glass using vinyl, burn away the parts that you want to etch, and then use an etchant solution.
But you'll also want a rotary attachment if you're doing rounded surfaces.
Also, the laser modules on these are completely interchangeable for higher wattage units. If it weren't for the tariffs, I'd say start with the 5W and buy a more powerful unit from AliExp later on.
Look for the ones with the new square dot prismatic lenses if you want the latest tech.
