Also. embracing for the time machine jokes, I still think 16e 128gb at $299 for the phone, was a better deal and might come back - far superior processor, 8gb ram, Apple AI support, longer os update support, convenient usb-c port instead of lightning etc. These far outweigh the potential advantages from 14 plus - 256gb, dual camera, magsafe, larger screen size etc for me.
Not true for everyone/every use case, agreed. YMMV

I'd like to double check if one would only really need to spend 364.99 + $ 60 to get the 512gb unlocked?
Would Verizon have any cancellations fees?
Do they sometimes give you a hard time by suddenly charging your account for the 3rd month? Perhaps Verizon charging you full price of the phone (699.99) if you suddenly stop paying the monthly prepaid services?

One offers $75 New Service (Phone Plans) or $15 add-a-line / new prepay customers. Not sure if New Service = postpaid only.
The other offers $80 new account / add a line of service (not sure if prepaid included) or $40 for prepaid line on new account. But it also says you can combine both offers so possibly get the $40 + $80? On the promotion it shows both; $40 in big font and then $80 in small font.

As accurate as possible. No addendums.
You don't need to immediately cancel a month of prepaid service, because it's prepaid. You can let the plan run out if you don't want future months of service.
From what I understood based on others posts and goog'n a bit, the "unlock timer" restarts once you move to another eSIM, so I figured even if the timer started when I moved it to a her post-paid, it'd just take 60d from them to unlock. But perhaps I misinterpreted the wording.
I really wish Apple had switched to USB-C for this model and at this price.
I've already switched to USB-C for all my portable electronics so going back to lightning for my main device I use everyday is a deal breaker.

Verizon Postpaid: Per Verizon's official policy, handsets sold on postpaid plans remain locked for 60 days after purchase/activation, then auto‑unlock. "Devices that you purchase from Verizon are locked for 60 days after purchase… After 60 days, we will automatically remove the lock"verizon.com. This 60‑day rule (no mention of any extra payment) remains in effect for all postpaid devices.
Verizon Prepaid: Likewise, Verizon's published policy locks prepaid phones only 60 days after activation, with no additional paid‑service requirementverizon.com. After 60 days the lock is removed. In other words, Verizon's own prepaid service is unaffected by any new policy – it still follows the standard 60‑day unlocking ruleverizon.com.
Verizon MVNOs ("Value" brands): By contrast, Verizon's affiliated prepaid brands (the "Verizon Value" or MVNO carriers such as TracFone, Straight Talk, Visible, Total Wireless, etc.) have new unlock rules effective 4/1/2025. Under those rules a device is only unlocked after 60 days of paid service in addition to 60 days after activation. For example, a summary of the Value‐brand policy states that phones activated on Verizon's network will unlock only "60 days after paid Activation and 60 days of paid active service"tracfonereviewer.blogspot.com. In practice this means two months of service (roughly $60 in prepaid charges) must be paid before the unlock occurs. So I purchased the 16e deal at the end of march. I have already paid for my second month so when it's time to pay the third month I will switch carriers because the service in my area is bad. If I don't renew for the third month, will the device be unlocked automatically or do I need to contact Verizon? If I don't pay right away after the second month ends, will my number get cancelled and won't be able to transfer?
Afaik the device unlocking is automatic unless the phone is marked as stolen or the bill is past due (not in good standing).
So, out the door, it's $310 or $360 (+taxes/fees) for the device and one paid month, total.
Again, you do NOT need to remain with VZ Prepaid for any more than the one paid $60/$65 month to get and keep this device at the deal price.
