By the way Verzion was required to do the 60 day unlock because FCC forced them to do this when they were trying to buy another company.

Now that Mr Turd is the president, they are trying to reverse this decision/agreement and want to unlock after 6 months of service like how ATT, T-mobile are doing.

Yeah, it is ridiculous. I really hope they still allow it to be just the 2 months after activation, and not 6 months of continuous service, for those of us who got in beforehand and while the unlocking terms say the former.

If he gives in to Verizon's idiotic requests, it will absolutely harm the consumer.

They changed the policy just a few days ago - https://www.verizon.com/about/con...ing-policy.

After 60 days of paid active service and ordinary usage, we will automatically remove the lock unless the device is deemed stolen or purchased fraudulently

Edit - I'm worried that Verizon may use the 'stolen or purchased fraudulently' as an excuse to not unlock many of these devices. I kept a copy of the previous version of the unlock policy which does not have any of this verbiage. The policy should apply as of the date of purchase and not the current policy.

Wow. That is absolutely ridiculous of them.

It says "Updated on: May 22, 2025". For those of us here who PURCHASED BEFORE that date, we should ABSOLUTELY be allowed to have it unlocked after 60 days from Activation, which was the policy at the time of purchase. With NO second paid month needed. Otherwise, I would NOT have purchased.

If they refuse to unlock the phone exactly as promised in the terms at the time of purchase, I am going to file a complaint with the BBB. Everyone here should too. They canNOT just get away with this.
EDIT: meant to say FTC, not BBB.

Yes they can, the fine print says they have the right to change it at any time- that means you'll be buying a second month if you want it unlocked- please prove me wrong… they don't give a damn about the fcc or bbb

lol! BBB is not FTC! It's a business that accredits local businesses with consumer reviews ( was relevant prior to google reviews, Facebook etc) ; perhaps you should threaten them by complaining to cfpb or cpb branch of the FTC

Looks like Verizon did what was done with the Straighttalk deals. Will need to have another month of service to unlock.

Everyone that bought the STW deals had to buy a second month to unlock. Filing with BBB n FCC n FTC n ABC n 123 don't do jack shit.

Anyone has the screenshot of the old policy? From the other side, this is a proof that the old policy doesn't require 60 day paid usage. So as long as we can make they stick to the old policy we should be good.

If I use credits for the second month partially, will it not be counted as paid service?

It would count. Even thought this whole policy change by Verizon is flagrantly illegal.

Interestingly the Device Unlocking policy on product page is still showing the old policy, last updated in 2019.
