My favorite laptop ever. Keyboard, battery life, screen are terrific. Just make sure your software works on ARM processor. Games don't always do so as one example.
Can't even run Fortnite. SnapX cpu compatibility is poor for gaming. Need an Intel/AMD laptop.
Yes, but Check with the high school what apps they use across all classes, then check SnapX cpu/Windows for ARM compatibility!
This is because some apps simply do not run in SnapX cpus, so if it doesn't, you're stuck.
Now, for the basics - Microsoft Office (word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook), ms teams, ms edge browser - if that's all school uses, then you'll be fine. Else, pass and buy an Intel/AMD laptop.

1. Arm based chip is super power efficient they are trying to catch up to m1

2. Ssd is upgradable. I put 2TB ssd
You need special image of windows 11 for this PC

3. Screen is great and touch pad is best I used in PC

4. Sellers buy bulk whole sale in discount
These are likely a new product. It was only released a year ago.

5. Battery life is really long.

6. Very quiet and light

I prefer m1. I set these up for people who asked for my tech help( friends )

For windows, this is best laptop imo.

Most software compatibility will catchup.

99% people use web apps.

I am excited to see future snapdragon developments. I hope this arm processors survives.

I have a surface laptop first generation 8gb ram, i5 with 128gb ssd.. would this be a big improvement over it or am I better off spending more on a 32g, i7 or i9 with higher Ssd, not necessarily a surface?

Qualcomm and Epic are working together on compatability for Fortnite. You can expect to see this running on Snapdragon X processors by the end of the Summer. To be clear, Snapdragon X running Fortnite has nothing to go with performance of the Snapdragon X processor and everything to do with the AntiCheat software that Epic uses... It's really a similar situation with any hardware running on Linux trying to play Fortnite, and I'm hoping that this collaboration between Qualcomm and Epic solves the problem for Linux too!

Unless you are running some pretty unique software, or playing games, I don't think you'll have any problems. I have a Surface Pro 11 and have yet to run into anything that wouldn't run.https://windowsonarm.org/
How well does Zoom run? I've heard it can be buggy.

As long as you don't need a ton of local storage, this is a great device. You might also consider HP OmniBook X which are regularly on-sale with X-Elite processors for a bit less money. We have both in our household and although the Surface is nicer, Omnibook is a relatively close second.

I just bought refurbished Omnibook at MC. I love the laptop. Might be one of my favorite that I've bought.

For those interested here, this might be worth a look for $732, has the Elite processor and 1TB storage. YMMV, but I picked one up when it was slightly cheaper a couple of weeks ago, and it arrived sealed with warranty til Mar 2026. Like New priced slightly higher.

I don't use it, but it says it runs natively.

Bumping my own post, but the Elite w/1TB has dropped to $614 in Like New condition, quite a deal. Looks like 4 left right now.

Elite on 13.8 inch is the worse deal due to worse battery life and miniscule performance increase
