See I absolutely don't understand, if I had stock and I knew the next weeks stock was going to cost 2x more I would hold onto my stock and wait for everyone to raise prices then come in and sell my pre tariff stock but everyone has everything on a fire sale right now. Can anyone explain this? Solar supposed to be 3000% tariff so why have a sale now? All I hear on the news is the sky is falling but all I see are fire sales!

I believe their strategy is driven by the fact that they have a large inventory already in the U.S., and they're trying to sell it quickly. By pricing it lower now—before competitors raise their prices—they can stay competitive, even against brands that market themselves as 'American' but rely heavily on Chinese manufacturing who inevitably will need to raise their prices as they will be affected by the tariffs equally. If they stick to regular pricing, they're less likely to attract budget-conscious consumers who might otherwise discover that their products are just as reliable as the higher-priced alternatives.

Actually I found my answer. Tariffs don't go into effect immediately they are by the cargo ship launch date so for example if the 145% tariff goes into effect May 2nd the a cargo ship full of widgets that launched May first is immune. So looks like they crammed the warehouses full then ordered shipments to fill warehouses again. So they are trying to sell the stuff in the warehouses right now to make room for the new ships. Basically we have a month or two longer before it really starts affecting all but the smallest businesses.

Because people won't buy it at 3000% tarriff. Consumers will just bail on 'want' items and only buy 'need' items.

You missed the entire point and just threw a random thought on top!

The tariffs issue isn't going to last forever. In fact, it probably won't last more than than a month or so. China is reeling from the tariffs and factories are closing. China cannot afford this. They were already in an economic slump before the tariffs. There are backdoor negotiations going on right now. China won't admit it yet because they want to save face.

China has verified that negotiations just started taking place in the last day or two. However I'm sure you're more aware of what China is doing more than what they or any news network publicizes.
