99.999% of PLA _is_ the same. Call it high speed, plus, etc.... that is all marketing. There are _tons_ of people testing filaments and they all point to no real difference.
I would certainly agree... stock up now as who knows what will happen with the prices. Even PLA at $10 or $11 is not a huge difference.

While this doesn't show difference between brands, it does show different physical behavior between the same brand and their formulations.

As far as other brands, the colors and cleanliness of the prints are better than most outside of Polymaker. I'm not sure if this is the right word but many of the colors on some of the other brands seem "diluted" or a bit washed. I do have plenty of Polymaker but use it sparingly as it's just too expensive and if it is better than Elegoo, it's not by much to warrant me spending more on it. Polymaker was expensive before and now it's even worse after they raised pricing on everything by about 10%.
I would recommend trying a roll of the Elegoo PLA+ and I'd venture a guess that you will be quite happy vs some of the other brands.

Does Elegoo make Polymaker products? Go back and read my question which was about your Elegoo comment. As I said, it's 99% marketing. Some (very few) companies actually make better PLA. It is only _slightly_ better and they usually charge almost twice as much. I'm not talking about those filaments at all.

The link you provided tests many difference. Almost all show that PLA+ is the same and in one case, worse then PLA. The tests also show that PLA+ is different in one regard... it behaves more like PETG in that it does not bend and then breaks, it simply breaks at a higher force without bending.
If you want to spend twice as much as certain PLA+ brands, feel free to do so. I'd simply recommend saving money and printing with PETG.
