You shouldn't put those spools directly in your AMS. Elegoo direct has an adapter you can print that goes around the edges of the spool. There are also many variants available on makerworld which I prefer. They are quick prints and snap right on.

Something like this: https://makerworld.com/en/models/...leId-23217

You write this in almost every filament thread as if every PLA is the same. Also, filament from most retailers come from China and pricing will be going up. Elegoo already announced the increase is coming and Polymaker has already raised their pricing.

Please feel free to go back and read the posts. I did not claim "all" PLA was the same. You stated Elegoo PLA was not the same and I asked for info to show that Elegoo was not the same.

The link you provided tests many difference. Almost all show that PLA+ is the same and in one case, worse then PLA. The tests also show that PLA+ is different in one regard... it behaves more like PETG in that it does not bend and then breaks, it simply breaks at a higher force without bending.

If you want to spend twice as much as certain PLA+ brands, feel free to do so. I'd simply recommend saving money and printing with PETG.
I think you are confusing me with someone else. I didn't state anything about brand differences. I was refuting the differences in PLA formulations like PLA, PLA+, Rapid PLA, etc.

99% of PLA is the same is simply not true. To say pla+ is the same as standard is also not true (at least for the better brands) ... For example, while the Elegoo pla is very good, I personally would spend the extra $10-$15 extra for the PLA plus. I have close to 200 rolls of filament (mostly PLA) from various brands and it's pretty easy to identify which filament prints better than others. There's a good few I wouldn't touch again regardless of price.
Any specific brands to steer clear of? Completely new to this and only tried a Flashforge burnt titanium and some Elegoo PLA. Do you have any brands that you would never buy again?

It's hard to say which brands to stay clear of as there are so many random brands out there. The brands I've almost never had any issues with are Polymaker, Bambu, Elegoo, Sunlu (or Jayo which is the same as Sunlu). Brands like eSun and Creality are also generally good, but I have had sporadic issues. Then there are some filaments which are good but they are a bit harder to dial in and I wouldn't recommend them for someone just starting off.

From the brands above, Sunlu and Elegoo are generally the most affordable and more so on deal. You will generally get better pricing if buying the 4 or 5 packs (Amazon frequently runs deals on these) and obviously 10kg bundles. I'm not sure how the pricing will be in the future with tarrifs as Polymaker & Elegoo both announced pricing will be going up with polymaker already doing so. I'm sure other brands will be following as most are from China. I prefer Elegoo over Sunlu.

If just starting, I'd recommend using PLA which is the easiest to print and then trying PETG.

Good luck and enjoy the hobby! It can get really addictive Smilie

Trying to decide between the Rapid PLA Plus and just plain PLA Plus for my Bambu P1S. The Rapid PLA Plus is delayed until 6/30! I don't mind waiting as this is just to stock up but is it work getting the higher speed filament for the high speed printers?

is this still the recommendation? i went looking for deals and found this from an SD thread:

came from this thread where everyone seems to hate bambu

The kerfuffle was about requiring installing Bambu Connect for local network printing vs an open source slicer. Nothing about the quality of the hardware or the resulting prints.

Nerds nerding over stuff that won't really bother or affect the average end user much. If you read into why and don't understand the problem, it probably doesn't apply to you.

Tl;dr sorta like they're pushing some required software and people don't like being told what to do, but it's what most of us use anyway.

Thanks! I much prefer the ability to mix and match colors and filament types. I picked up some PLA+ and Rapid PETG including some on silk, matte, and multicolor.

P1S is my primary printer (I got the Centauri carbon as a second printer recently). Both print really well using built in print settings (there is someone who uploaded Elegoo print profiles who fine tuned it even more). I think it comes down to personal preference or what you may be using it for. Standard Plus is a bit stronger and it does print pretty fast, as fast as I could need. Honestly if buying and deciding between the two, I'd buy whichever is cheaper or if one has a specific color available.

I ordered 10KG of the PLA+ white [elegoo.com] (same price as the white Rapid PLA+ [elegoo.com]) and black at $105 [elegoo.com] ($5 less than the black Rapid PLA+ [elegoo.com]). In my experience the difference between these two is small, but I opted for the PLA+. I print a lot for my kids and the PLA+ is a bit better for me.

Wish I knew to sign up for an account first. They sent a coupon code for $10 that I didn't see until after I placed the order.

Got these to work in AMS by tearing the sides off and sticking it in a bambu spool. Decent filament but I have had issues. They will honor defective spools but be prepared to take pictures and wait for replacements.

Anybody know of non-PLA deals? ASA, TPU, etc.? Been out of stock forever on their site
I set up a reminder for when PETG came back in stock and it was restocked within a week.
