You shouldn't put those spools directly in your AMS. Elegoo direct has an adapter you can print that goes around the edges of the spool. There are also many variants available on makerworld which I prefer. They are quick prints and snap right on.

Something like this: https://makerworld.com/en/models/...leId-23217

You write this in almost every filament thread as if every PLA is the same. Also, filament from most retailers come from China and pricing will be going up. Elegoo already announced the increase is coming and Polymaker has already raised their pricing.

I do really like this filament. Its up there with Inland as far as quality goes. Well wound, no where smell to it. Just had really good luck with Elegoo so far.

not a bad deal. but those cardboard spools are a deal killer for me. i use a bambu lab p1s with ams. and the cardboard spools always warp or cause the filament to get stuck or tangled. super super annoying how often it happens.
Have you tried printing an adapter or simply putting electrical tape on the edges? Works for me in my AMS.

I've rawdogged dozens of these through my ams. I keep waiting for some horror story to happen to me but so far I'm in the clear (I'll prob come down to an insane mess in the morning lmao).

I bought 20kg PLA, the flament got tangled after 3hrs into the printing. I am using the anycubic ACE pro filament box.
Any change you had this occur - see image, right side of spool. The feed end slips between the wound filament and the cardboard face, getting jammed even when the spool is freely spinning on the rollers. I've had nearly every cardboard spool of Elegoo PETg Rapid get pulled in between the wraps and spool between 1/3 and 2/3 through the spool, and then jamming multiple times from there through the end. My dryboxes feed with the filament over the spool so I modified one to feed under. Still got caught at the spool edge. I added a short PTFE on the interior of the dry box to try and separate the filament from the spool as it payed out. Still jammed. I found I get fewer of these jambs if I take it out of the box and feed from a traditional cylinder/holder but still had one jam occur, so I've taken to simply re-spooling the material.

I've never had a mfr plastic spool jamb like this, and never had my refillable spools from eSun/Inland jamb like this. My rewinds haven't jammed yet either. For this, and a couple other reasons I'm going to reconfigure my drybox interiors to reduce the chance of friction/tension, but if you're having the same issue I am, put a review up on Amazon with the detailed problem. Elegoo offered to refund my entire order. (I declined, I'm still using the material, which is easy to print). If more people have this issue, esp those of us printing with dryboxes, it might prompt Elegoo to investigate and fix the issue.

( I now shy away from PLA/PLA+ due to some static creep/static load fracture failures 6-8 months after printing. That and it tends to become brittle when in stored contact with PTFE, meaning I can 't leave a spool loaded and expect it to work)

alright for all the experts here, which 3d printer should I start with and where are the best online resources to learn?
I've just been using Voxelab Aquila, a knockoff of an Ender 3, for several years. Leveling the bed took about 20 minutes and needed to be done only once. Beyond that, I've had to replace the extruder fan in it 3 times (I bought a crappy 4 pack for around $15). I've put put several hundred hours on it at least. I run Klipper on a Raspberry Pi in place of the built-in computer. It really modernized the printer and I think I would do it even on an expensive printer just to have the same interface. Sure, a $500+ printer would be great, and is a no-brainer if money is no object; but it's not 100% necessary to get started, and you can still get decent quality results with something cheap. I feel like if you're 3d printing you're probably a maker or DIYer of some kind and are going to be tinkering no matter what. Just wanted to offer an additional perspective on what's required to get started with this hobby.

Just move on to PETG or ABS, even if its $1-2 more per roll PETG is so superior and almost as easy to print there's no reason for PLA anymore. The moment you forget it in the car, leave it out or any sun its useless.

I bought this, but don't like them

I then use bambulab basic instead, this are more like pla matte not pla basic, pla basic is more reflection in light
