I mean, yeah, it's a little shady to abuse the retention department, but I got stuff to do, I'm not sitting on hold for 45 mins, told some bs, get disconnected while on hold or xfr'd, and then call back in and wait for a supervisor, like a lot of people here did.
It was a 5 minute call and my phone was on my account and working.
Smarter not Harder, friends. 🙂

Total's response:
"Thanks for sharing your situation with us. You should be able to use your device without any problem. However, if you would like us to check the information of said device, you can send us a DM. We will be glad to help you!"
Motorola's response:
"I can absolutely understand your concern, especially after seeing mixed reports and delays, and it's completely reasonable to feel uncertain given the circumstances.
Regarding Your Concerns:
Delivery Holds & Forum Reports
What you're referencing may be related to shipping coordination or precautionary measures taken by certain carriers. However, no official recall has been issued by Motorola or any of our authorized partners at this time.
Fire Safety Concerns
We take all product safety matters seriously. If there is ever a safety-related alert or product action, Motorola would notify customers directly and publish official guidance on our website. That said, if your phone was delivered and passed standard shipping protocols, it is safe to use under normal conditions.
Activation & Service Plan Concerns
Since you received the device through a Total Wireless promotional plan, we recommend:
Hold off activating if you're still unsure — if you're within your return window, you may wish to check with Total Wireless support about return or exchange options just in case.
If you're leaning toward activating it, make sure your device is fully updated by going to Settings > System > Software Update.
Once you activate and if (in the unlikely event) any manufacturer action were to take place, Motorola would work directly with affected customers — your warranty and eligibility for support would still apply."
I am confused now. I really like the phone and form factor after watching the videos but I am scared to use if this really is a case of fire hazard.

5/8: I had original issues placing the order via mobile but eventually able to place via web. It let me port in a google voice number.
5/14: Received notification from TW that order had shipped.
5/15: Order picked up and departed Louisville, KY
5/16 8:24 : Loaded on truck for delivery
5/16 9:07 Scheduled for deliver
5/16 9:07 Return to sender requested
5/19 arrived with sender
5/20: Called total wireless
- First person was very friendly and very confused with what was going on. He eventually found something that said "The Batch that was sent out was defective"
- He told me all I could do would be to go to a store to see if they could get me one but the closest store is 1-2 hours away
- He then tried to send me one but said their system is slow and he can't access the promotion
- He said that I could try doing it again. To be fair this guy was very concerned, very apologetic, and very sorry for the time. I reminded him in order to do it again I would have to pay for another 3 months so I asked for a refund
- He Transferred to refund department (VERY LONG wait)
- Talked with someone who very kindly and immediately read the notes and said they would refund me but it would take a time for documentation purposes
Overall process as about 10 min on hold for first CSR, about 20-30 min with first CSR, about 40 min on hold for refunds and ~20 min to process refund.Best of luck all
