If you do it in store, be sure that your local Costco sells Tmobile service. Not all of them do

Device is fully paid off.
If you pay the device early, you forfeit remaining credits. That means, in order to get all 24 credits, your phone must stay locked on T-Mobile for 2 years.
The new price lock guarantee says that if they raise your rates, you can leave, and they will not charge you for the final month of service (which is probably a partial month, and since it's not prorated and there's no partial month refund, even if your final month was just 1 day of service, so you aren't likely to actually get 30 days of service free).

- So one pays $0 for the device + applicable taxes
- Then receive monthly credit as well for next 24 months on my phone plan?

Also, theres a $35 device connection charge (plus tax on that $35) in addition to paying all the sales tax on the full value of the phone, up front.
Unless you get the $35 DCC waived (Costco, etc)
I'd have to check Reddit for when that infamous thread was announced.
You can pay $25/month at various different MVNOs for unlimited everything including Visible (Verizon network) or Metro by T-Mobile. You can even pay much less per line if you look at your info and notice that you're rarely using data? Just get shared pool plan somewhere like US Mobile.
Postpaid only made sense when they gave you $800/$1000 premium devices for free with bill credits, now it's not worth it.
