There should be some law that if you signed up to receive device credits , your plan pricing cannot go up or they pay the credits even if you leave. Last 2-3 months they gave out all these device "deals" and then jacked up the price on plans.

Agreed 100%. I did the iPhone deal and upgraded 4 lines and a week later they texted me that they are increasing price by $5 per line. Dick move by T-Mobile.

In person or call the Tmobile Costco line

If you do it in store, be sure that your local Costco sells Tmobile service. Not all of them do

Other option is trading in Galaxy S10/S10e purchased from Ebay and trading in for Pixel 9a. That will set you back $70 to $90 for trade in phone.

Is this deal also good at Costco's no upgrade fee plus $100 Costco gift card promotion?

I tried this at a Costco with an s8 under the "any phone" idea, and they told me there js a list of phones they wont take. I read the exact opposite here mutliple times but my special ohone costco 45 min away wouldnt even discuss it

It's not a terrible deal. It's a good phone considering, and can't argue with trading in just about anything and getting it free. If you aren't going to jump on any promotion the next couple years, it's very much worthwhile. I do agree it's not worth blowing a promotion on otherwise though, when you can get this phone so cheap playing the prepaid game. I'd rather keep the powder dry than jumping on this.
True. Many of us are on super grandfathered plan with still no price increase. There is also Pixel 9a option too.

I maybe be wrong on this I think the workers are just lying because they think you're getting a great deal by trading un-sellable phone. Did you show them the T&Cs?

Has this changed in the last couple years? Typically, if you paid off a device early, you still receive the credits as long as your service plan stays active. If you left Tmobile, you would lose those credits.

It changed about a year ago?

I'd have to check Reddit for when that infamous thread was announced.
Changed effective Jul 1st, 2024. So effectively no way to unlock your phone until all device credits have completed or in simpler terms a full 2 years.

I myself just don't see the value of buying phones from them at least for the 2 most sought after brands Samsung and Apple. For iphones just buy unlocked directly from Apple and you get the same promos as long as you are not trading in a phone or trading in an iphone. Apple does not take non iphones for trade in at least on these promos.
For Samsung buy unlocked directly from Samsung with epp, edu, AAA etc. discounts. Find a helpful friend who has access if you don't. They often run awesome deals for e.g. S25 ultra 256gb was going for $710 inclusive of a $100 credit while tmo was charging the full retail of $1300.

Thanks,
You have to spring for $70 to $90 on Ebay for Galaxy S10e to trade in. However, you're suppose to get $100 Costco card so it should even out. I don't think the ear buds are included in the deal anymore.

Yep, they have turned from un-carrier to scam-carrier.

I traded dead iphone 4s yesterday for Samsung A16 5G and they ask for IMEI number, luckily sim card tray had IMEI number and I was able to do it at Costco.

I've a simple choice plan with international calling from all lines from an account in Texas. I've had this plan since 2008.

i remember the 2 year contracts then that period where it was all about no more contracts, and now we are in this phase for the last few years where they are using the phones as the contracts lol.

This is a horrible deal. Unless its a throwaway line you have that needs a new phone
