Yeah, I don't think automowers are ready for primetime yet. The functionality and affordability just aren't viable at the moment, in my opinion.
Hopefully, though, in five years or so, they'll be reliable and economical—just like robot vacuums became over time. When that fabled moment arrives, it's going to be a game-changer, man. Cheap, lazy basterds like me will rejoice, finally freed from the drudgery and chore of mowing the lawn.
Honestly, though, a self-propelled mower and some decent tunes make mowing the grass not so bad. It's almost a meditative experience when the weather is nice and it's not too hot, of course…

Ah, the Zen of Lawn Mowing, that and looking forward to a cold beer when the job is done makes mowing OK.
These are still cool in theory, but wait another 5 years or so. They're going in the same direction as the robo vacuums. The ones that are any good are like $2k+
Saw this the other day. But had already bought an RC type mower @$600 a few weeks ago and really enjoying it. I can mow from my kitchen window. Lol also have a WiFi camera I'm thinking of attaching to it. I'm personally waiting for the toro turf pro 40". But that's 10x this price tag.

I always think, hey, this would be cool to keep the lawn topped off several times a week...but then I think...I get a sense of accomplishment when done with the yard work, a feeling I don't get at work...also, I get off my butt and get all my steps in...so manual mowing is a mental & physical win/win for me

Brand called zipmow on Amazon. It's not a smart mower. It's an RC mower you control. Has a 21" deck with real blades as well. They spin at 8000rpm. Which is enough to shred about anything in my yard.
