When choosing between the Pit Boss 850 DX and the Traeger Pro Series 22 at the same price point, your decision should hinge on your specific cooking preferences and priorities. Here's a detailed comparison to guide you:

### 🔥 Pit Boss 850 DX: Feature-Rich and Versatile

**Pros:**

* **Larger Cooking Area:** Offers 840 sq. in. of porcelain-coated cooking space, suitable for larger gatherings.

* **Advanced Temperature Control:** Equipped with a digital PID controller allowing temperature adjustments in 5° increments, ranging from 180°F to 500°F.

* **High-Temperature Searing:** Features a Flame Broiler Lever™ for direct flame searing up to 1,000°F, ideal for achieving a perfect sear.

* **Smart Connectivity:** Includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, enabling remote monitoring and control via the Pit Boss Grills app.

* **Larger Hopper Capacity:** Comes with a 21 lb. hopper, reducing the need for frequent refills during extended cooking sessions.

**Cons:**

* **App Reliability Issues:** Some users have reported connectivity problems with the Pit Boss app, affecting remote control features.

* **Pellet Feeding Concerns:** There are mentions of the hopper not feeding pellets consistently, requiring close monitoring during cooks.
---

### 🔥 Traeger Pro Series 22: Reliable and User-Friendly

**Pros:**

* **Consistent Performance:** Known for stable temperature control, making it a dependable choice for various cooking tasks.

* **User-Friendly Design:** Features a Digital Pro Controller with Advanced Grilling Logic, maintaining temperatures within ±15°F.

* **Durable Construction:** Built with a sawhorse chassis and all-terrain wheels, ensuring stability and mobility.

**Cons:**

* **Limited Temperature Range:** Offers a maximum temperature of around 450°F, which may not be sufficient for high-heat searing.

* **Less Advanced Features:** Lacks Wi-Fi connectivity and advanced controllers found in higher-end models, limiting remote control capabilities.

### 🏆 Final Recommendation

* **Choose the Pit Boss 850 DX** if you value a larger cooking area, higher temperature range for searing, and smart connectivity features. It's well-suited for those who enjoy experimenting with various cooking techniques and hosting larger gatherings.

* **Opt for the Traeger Pro Series 22** if you prioritize consistent performance, ease of use, and durable construction. It's an excellent choice for those seeking a straightforward, reliable grilling experience.

Both grills have their merits, so your decision should align with your specific cooking needs and preferences.
This is a sale price set by Traeger. So every Traeger retailer should have it at this price. Show some love to the local stores that carry it and pick them up there. It'll probably come with free assembly as an added bonus.
Home Depot has it on offer for the same price, also eligible for the 10% military discount (which reduces it to $350.10 before tax):

Good price, and I love my traeger, not sure if I'd love it as much without WiFi . Then again I only paid $100 more than this for my silverton years ago and now that model is $900 so all thing considered I might learn to love this one while I have $500 in my pocket.

I've never had a Pit Boss but it couldn't be any worse than the Traeger I had. Weber charcoal grills from now on.

Pit boss 850DX has issues with the temp control. I love its searing capability. But if the temp control is too off then there is no point. I would hold my trigger until I see a Camp Chef woodwind on sale

Just want to say Traeger warranty on these is excellent. Had an issue with my pro 22 only after about a month of owner ship. Did a facetime call to show them the issues and they sent me a new one on a pallet to my home a week later. They don't want the other one back.

My new one is now 2 years old and sees about 6 uses per month with 2 being overnighters.
