If anyone has an older Dyson with battery issues, you are MUCH better off getting a Ryobi battery converter for your Dyson. They are cheap, easy to install, and work great.

Two of my Ryobi stick vacs died so I gave up on them. Bought a $15 adapter, installed it on my Dyson v7, and now I can use my six Ryobi 4ah HP batteries on my Dyson. It breathed new life into my dead Vacuum.

The Dyson batteries weren't Li-Ion for a long time (not sure about now), so they because trash quickly. With a Ryobi adapter, you get interchangeable batteries and lithium ion too for cheap.
That statement would not be correct.

Just got this from the deal. Going to return the batteries bc I have plenty of them.

Overall like the unit, however sometimes I see a red light when using the vac. Happens on multiple batteries. Anyone have that issue?

Also my wife is tryna make this our main vac even though I bought it as a 'supplemental' vac for pet stuff.

For main duties, still prefer a corded one.

I have one of these vacuums and they are great for normal day to day vacuuming of carpets and hardwood floors.

I'm unable to provide feedback for how it works with pet hair or other uses.

Vacuum time is a little short but we have a lot of Ryobi 18v batteries so we just switch them out easily.

mine arrived yesterday. seems to work very well. but time will tell. we have the previous model and my wife threw away all her other vacs when we got it. she loves that thing, gets used daily. so easy to use and we have a basketful of 4 ah batteries so it never running out of juice. even the kids like to use it, so she's always looking for it when she needs it. so i bought this so we can keep one on each floor of the house. Plus, i always need more batteries!

I got this deal about two years ago. I am still very happy with this vacuum. I would give it an 8 out of 10 for the floor and 5 for carpet. It is pretty easy to clean but jams up pretty good with pet hair. My kids can use it pretty effectively as well. I would recommend this over a Dyson that would cost twice as much if not more.
How is the canister capacity? I've seen complaints on other sticks about the need to constantly empty.

The hose that goes down to the vacuum head split after 6 months for me. I wouldn't advise getting this

I would not get this. The way the vacuum bends means the hose that goes into the vacuum floor head gets a lot of stress and mine ripped after 6 months. The warranty is a joke and Ryobi basically said good luck.
What hose are you referring to? Do you mean the extension wand?

No there's a hose that does down from the rod to the vacuum head that has rollers. It goes through the pivot point so as the head moves back and forth the hose gets a lot of friction and eventually it ripped

It's heavier with 4ah batteries. Definitely heaver than the cheaper stick vacums but at least it stands up straight on it's own.

Things that broke on us were the plastic piece that makes it stand on it's own and the wheels. Thats why you see people selling 3d printed replacement wheels. The plastic canister can get cracked easily. The motor is the only good thing about it. It does use a lot of battery at the high setting. I suggest the low setting for hard surfaces.

Direct Tools has the reconditioned (non HP) 2ah battery, charger, and vacuum for $90 once in a while but the last time I ordered it from them they had no packing in the box at all so the canister was cracked. Returned for a full refund.

I'm thinking about trying generic stick vacs that use Dewalt batteries. They are like $50 and generic dewalt batteries are cheaper than the Ryobi generic batteries.
It will never stand on its own and Ryobi, Home Depot will say it is not covered by the warranty.

When I reached out to Ryobi they said this didn't qualify under the warranty

Would you please link the adapter and batteries needed? I have two dysons and this will save me a bunch of money
I bought one 18V Ryobi adapter last year for the Dyson V8 model #RYO18V7V8 from Ebay. There are other 18V adapter also available. You can search through Ebay or Amazon.

This thing rules. we have absolutely abused it and it's still going. You can tell what they've learned through each iteration of vacuum and this one stands on its own and my dysons don't. I drop a lot of dysons because of this now, and not once have i laid the ryobi on its side lol.

It munches batteries (duh) and the HP's make a massive difference in run time. We have to swap out the 6ah every day or so.

depends on how dirty your floor is. we have a dog and 5 cats, so lots of hair and I don't think the canister capacity is an issue, never bugged me. its a pretty decent sized canister.

Does this adapter work with Dyson V10 as well?

you should definitely consider skipping this if you actually want a good vacuum.
this doesnt have a hepa filter which is a huge no no.. Any vacuum without a sealed hepa filter is just pushing that dust into your air.

Not sure if this is slick for the price if you looking for hp batteries though.

Stick(pun intended) with a known vacuum maker that has a hepa filter. shark,Dyson etc etc.

This is on the page for this deal:
  • 3-year manufacturer's warranty
Are you saying they won't honor it by claiming it wasnt a manufacturing defect?

it's pretty good, I like the low noise level and easy to move it around, the battery won't last long but it does its purpose.
