There's a 15% coupon showing up for me that brings them even lower
$46.79 for 16ft
$40.45 for 10ft
Damn how did you get that coupon to pop up? It would be enough to tip me over being on the fence and just buy the 16ft one if I saw a coupon bringing it to $46
Yes, but you'll need to use the bridge as far as I know! I have all my Hue Lights in HA (and in Hubitat, and Google Home, and Alexa. Yes, I have a problem 🤣)

Bridge? Dang I hate all these proprietary hardware requirements. Any light strips I don't have to buy additional hardware to work with HA?

Picked up a 10ft and 16ft, plus some aluminum tracks.
Going to try to upgrade my kitchen under counter lights.
Hue is expensive but the most reliable. I've tried to go cheap with lights, but they all ended up being a waste of money. Should have just went with Hue to begin with.

Which aluminum tracks do you got? Can you link them here, please?
Costco is selling ~50 ft of Govee LED strips for ~50 dollars. Is there any reason to pick Philips over Govee for someone just starting out on lightstrips?

Not anymore. Hue used to be the gold standard. I own over 30 hue lights and have been switching to Govee. Hue has been a total fail in the last few years with its integration with Alexa. Just go into the Play store and read the reviews about the skill. It rarely works.
When it comes to home automation—especially lighting—it's all about expanding your capabilities, not limiting them. You want to add features like color control, voice commands, scenes, automation, and reliability—while retaining the convenience of a physical light switch.
Philips Hue excels here. It integrates seamlessly with major smart home platforms, including Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant. If you're in the Apple ecosystem, Hue's native HomeKit support makes it easy to control your lights through Siri, the Home app, or automations with other HomeKit devices.
The Hue Dimmer Switch is one of the most reliable options available—it works consistently and doesn't drain batteries like many others.
The Hue Motion Sensor is also top-tier—dependable, responsive, and efficient when it comes to battery life.
Yes, there are more affordable options like Govee, but if you're building a smart home that prioritizes stability, cross-platform compatibility, and a polished experience, Philips Hue remains the best all-around system—especially for full-home lighting setups.
If you just want a one-off light, go with Govee (I have a few). However, if you have multiple lights in a room/house that you want to work all together, Philips Hue is the way to go.
There's a reason Philips Hue can charge so much. Price is the only complaint anyone ever has about them.
