Casio: We make watches with batteries that last 10yrs yet with straps that last 2yrs. Those straps cost more or just as much as what you paid for the watch itself. It's like printer ink.

For $25 you get what you pay for. A g shock would be two or three times the price. You can't expect to get g shock quality for $25.

LOL. or you can get 3rd party straps from amazon. my strap broke, so now it resides in my pocket as a pocket watch, until it finally gets lost.
regardless, these are great watches with long battery life.

Its because people think they can shower with them, hot water destroys the resin. Damp cloth cleaning and it should last

My ancient Casio 549 module has a slot to adjust the time. After adjustment (need a microscope to see the slot), it is accurate to a maximum of +3 seconds per year (ambient temp ~45F to 105F). The battery is good for 8 years (no back light activation). The module's quartz oscillator has virtually no drift after adjustment (1999 to 2025). Not sure if modern Casio modules still incorporate this time adjustment feature.

549 ($45 on Ebay) found in DW-2500, W-38, W-47, W-48B, W-71, W-73, W-720, W-780, W-790.

My strap split despite my lack of showering (with a watch or otherwise) and using the watch every other day at most.

I don't know then, this stuff is a watch mystery. Casio suggests to not wash the band and just damp cloth it, and I remember when I used to swim the chlorine would harden and make it brittle. I haven't had that much trouble since but I have a large rotation in comparison the the grade school one.

There are theories that foam vocs from watch storage boxes can damage the resin

It could be uv, extra spicy sweat, who knows. Hopefully Project farm eventually tests these theories.

The band not lasting forever is just probably the cost of doing business if you don't want to get a metal strap.

I have doubts, no UV sealed, and when this process happens you get a white residue on the band, I've never seen that out of a new box.

No way its old stock, amazon order volume is too extreme.

That being said the G-shock pre curved cuff shapes may last longer as the straight mold cheaper ones are always being flexed.
