Tech Specs on ASUS site:

3.2K (3200 x 2000) OLED 16:10 aspect ratio
120Hz refresh rate
600 nits HDR peak brightness

Many SD Laptop Deals have 300 nits brightness

https://www.asus.com/us/laptops/f.../techspec/
No it's not
Incorrect. If you look at the Asus site you'll clearly see that it's the 285H for model S5606CA. It's the S5606MA model that has the 185H.

Of course this comes around when I just bought Zenbook 2 days ago... Zen book has the 256V... wondering how big of a difference would make for office work...Anyone with real life experience that can chime in? Besides the cpu, zenbook has 14 inch screen which fits my use case better(smaller and lighter for travel). Besides I think the zenbook build is a little bit prettierSmilie

Soldered 16gb in the year of 2025 makes this a complete nonstarter
Intel soldered ram on its Lunar Lake on its chips this generation to get better performance gains. Apple does the same exact thing. Its the future of making an all in one chip.

Zenbook is the better choice if you prioritize battery life and higher build quality.

Yeah, but with Apple it is easier to buy a higher specked version. With these PC OEMs, they often only sell one model with the same CPU and upcharge for a complete overhaul.

These processors are completely different generations not just just 7 vs 9. If you want good battery life, go with the lunar lake processor in the Lenovo.
Not different generations at all, they came out about a month of one another. Just different architectures and use-cases.

Good deal. I can't tell if black Friday this year will have amazing laptop deals or it will be a disaster due to tariffs
Prices will come down if no one buys. Laptops aren't exactly a need for most people.

Do you have an example of a 16GB laptop with these specs ( particularly intel Ultra 9 and OLED) that's $500-600? If so, I'll grab it in a second.

Ahhh between this and the 1099 lenovo aura edition. It has 32gb of ram but is more money and has a core ultra 7 vs ultra 9 .
You can create a power profile in this for the battery life, but you can't do anything about the RAM, so that's a bigger issue.

I'd rather get this instead...

https://slickdeals.net/f/18342874-asus-vivobook-s-14-cert-refurb-14-2-8k-120hz-oled-ryzen-ai-9-365-32gb-lpddr5x-1tb-ssd-840-99?src=SDSearchv3&attrsrc=Thread%3AExpired%3AFalse%7CSearch%3AType%3Anormal%7CSearch%3ASort%3Arelevance%7CSearch%3AHideExpired%3Afalse

For the same price, you get 2x the RAM, and a BETTER CPU. Refurb sure but in comes with an extended warranty so who cares? It's no contest. Is the lack of a keypad going to justify trading away those specs? I don't think so...

But in case it does, then this makes more sense:

https://slickdeals.net/f/18340393-hp-omnibook-5-ai-16-16-fhd-oled-core-ultra-7-255u-16gb-lpddr5x-512gb-gen4-ssd-win11h-629-99-f-s?src=SDSearchv3&attrsrc=Thread%3AExpired%3AFalse%7CSearch%3AType%3Anormal%7CSearch%3ASort%3Arelevance%7CSearch%3AHideExpired%3Afalse

Take those savings and put it into a bigger SSD if you must. Although I'd argue that anyone needing to upgrade 512GB of storage would probably want to upgrade this 1TB too. U suffix Ultra 7 sure but Intel H suffix CPUs are notoriously thirsty. I guarantee you most people wouldn't notice the difference unless they were running CPU benchmarks all the time... The question then becomes is a higher resolution screen worth an additional 35% over the HP?

I get your point. Heck I would actually prefer a 14" and I don't care one bit about the number pad but I'm very very hesitant on getting a refurb not done by the manufacturer. So I'd have to definitely skip on that one.

Maybe this then? Less resolution though

I'll admit I have a heavy bias against machines that are both non-upgradable and also have less than 24GB DRAM in 2025. But with local AI exploding in use I just don't see how manufacturers can justify not spending literally an extra $15-30 material cost for more RAM for a machine costing significantly more than $500-600. It's even more insulting given how nice the screen on this laptop is. That screen is easily $100, even $150 more in material cost than perhaps a lower resolution or refresh rate display. The Core 9 is also jacking the cost sky high too. It's maybe only 5-10% faster than a Core 7, but Intel is charging significantly more for it. Ultimately it's a marketing ploy. Bigger numbers are better.

I guess you won't be buying the vast majority of laptops in 2025 since almost all companies are going to soldered.

Soldered fine but 16gb rams in 2025 is not acceptable anymore.
