However, aside from that, I can vouch for samsung refurbished phones being quite a good product. I had a Note 20 ultra purchased from Amazon that was certified refurb, and the thing was flawless. New housing and new battery and full 1 year warranty.
There are always the exceptions though - like prepared / fast foods, aka ready to eat.
Even just 2 moths ago, in the boondocks and back roads in IL, I had cell coverage(VZ locked), for over 2 hours, and my wife's new Iphone (ATT locked) had nothing.
From what I have read, unlocked phones have a "mid range" of antennas, meaning they try to be a one size fits all, for most use cases, but because of that, there are places (speaking specifically in the US) that you will not have service compared to a locked phone.

I've been monitoring the refurbished price for those on Amazon and you can get BETTER prices on those WITHOUT a trade-in for the past 4 months (at least)

Battery & Charging: Each phone supports fast charging, with some offering wireless charging (wireless charging missing on 13R and iphone 16e).
Software Support: All provide long-term OS updates (Pixel 9a and Galaxy S24 promise 7 years, iPhone 16e has Apple's standard support (~6 year average), OnePlus 13R offers 4 years).
Unique Strengths / TLDR:
Galaxy S24 – If you value AI-powered features and real-time translation the most, get the Galaxy S24.
Pixel 9a – If you value camera software and computational photography the most, get the Pixel 9a.
iPhone 16e – If you value ecosystem integration and privacy-focused AI the most, get the iPhone 16e.
OnePlus 13R – If you value battery life and fast charging the most, get the OnePlus 13R.
