I am not sure how these compare to the strawberry flavor, but those were pretty awful. This is coming from someone who regularly eats protein bars and other protein-marketed snacks, so I am familiar with the flavors/textures and how they differ from their "non-protein" counterparts. I wouldn't buy the strawberry again, but I might try the chocolate one.

Just another heavily processed "food" masquerading as a healthy alternative to heavily processed "foods."

Here are the most controversial ingredients in these, from my pal CGPT:

1. Erythritol

Artificial sugar alcohol; generally safe but linked to digestive upset in some and possible cardiovascular risk at high intake (as per a 2023 Cleveland Clinic study—still debated).

2. Polydextrose

A synthetic fiber and sweetener; can cause bloating, gas, and laxative effects in some individuals.

3. Palm Oil / Palm Kernel Oil

High in saturated fat; linked to heart health concerns when overconsumed. Also raises environmental and ethical issues (deforestation, habitat loss).

4. Natural Flavors

Broad and vague category; may include chemical solvents, preservatives, or MSG derivatives. Often criticized for lack of transparency.

5. Sucralose (e.g., Splenda)

Artificial sweetener; disrupts gut microbiome and show negative insulin response in some studies.

Do all of these flavors have them lethal food dyes?
No lethal food dyes, but it has both sunflower and palm oils for those wondering which is very meh to me.... On top of the erythritol also has sucralose and stevia, so pretty much every sweetner you can think of in at least the smores one.... Some people react badly to some of these sweetners so to have that many different ones mixed with different seed oils, I would say this is very sus product when it comes to those healthy claims....

I stand corrected I checked out the cherry one, and it indeed does have dyes/food colorings....

I enjoy these, and appreciate the macros. Unfortunately, my favorite flavors are not on sale (strawberry, blueberry.) Also, to the person above me, I believe you are the first person to drop the word, "healthy." That's a stupid, vague term to use when it comes to discussing food, any way. Everyone has different goals and struggles, and some people have sensitivities.

I tried the Strawberry one.
They're shockingly filling for the size. The taste and texture is okay at best. They're softer than you'd initially think. They recommend microwaving but I haven't done that as of yet. They gave me some pretty gnarly farts so get ready for that. Overall they do what they are advertised to do. I genuinely was filled up by one of these (210 calories) when I usually eat about 450-600 calories for breakfast.

I love them so much. I bought one of each. Yall are crazy splitting hairs over little ingredients. Get your protein in. Get shredded. If we die, we die.

why not just eat real food instead?
Time, convenience, sometimes you want a little treat, etc.

Target doesn't sell these. These are the protein+ variant with 22g of protein.
The regular s'mores has 20g of protein vs these at 22g. Is that a big difference?

It's not. But it's still technically a different product.

Did you notice that Target is a 4 pack and Amazon is an 8 pack?

I still urge people who have not had these before to not make a blind leap into 8 of these. I'm pretty open to these "alternative" protein snacks and have a higher tolerance for these substiutions than most, and I still find these pretty hard to down.

These taste Delicious and have more protein than a pop tart. You're not eating a salad or anytime but very healthy. It's junk beeakfast with protein and it's glorious.
