People with weaker hand strength, older people, arthritis, if you have to do a large amount of pruning any of those and this thing is a lifesaver. It rips through large branches easily. Also helpful if you are in the Dewalt battery ecosystem already.

I've had this tool for 2 seasons now. I'm rather proud that I haven't lost a finger yet. These are incredibly powerful, and make easy work of some major pruning and yard-clearing jobs. Once you see how easily they'll slice through large branches, you'll understand how they can slice through a finger no problem.

This thing works great! Way, way better than the Toro power pruner, although the Toro has the nice extension stick. There was a lot of poison ivy hidden in the stuff I trimmed though. I had not been near the stuff for 60 years, but it still remembered me.

some of the comments are beyond lame and stupid.

i dropped my new pair in the creek. Frown gotta get another one.

if you have serious trimming to do, these are amazing. remember, you don't just cut the branches off. you have to cut them in pieces to either mulch or fit in the garbage/green.
bingo!

Why not buy a Cordless Reciprocating Saw? Much faster and cheaper as well
This runs circles around a recip for branches under an inch. It's way faster, no noise, no vibration and you need'nt steady the piece against anything. It also leaves a much cleaner cut and leaves behind no sawdust.

I have these from a prior deal and use them more than I thought i would. I purchased them primarily to trim blackberry bushes but I keep them in my atv so I can trim the trails as I ride. I have cut some pretty thick branches with these

The Milwaukee M12 12V Cordless Brushless Pruner Shears [homedepot.com] is such a better design, lighter and the straight design allows easier access to inside limbs. Many times on sale for under $100.

Gotta admit! I ordered this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CY1SH6CC

It works great, cuts as well as the DeWalt (I have/had two Dewalts, dropped and broke the pot metal body on one, this is a replacement), despite smaller blade size has a strong cut up to about 3/4 inch live branches. VERY lightweight compared to DeWalt, better for arthritis, etc. and nearly throwaway/replace should it fail. Came with wrench and replacement blade...totally skipping these 'name-brand' pricey versions from now on.

Downvotes are for the perceived threadcrapping, but you are right, I took a chance on these and very satisfied. Nothing 'wrong' with DeWalt, other than price and now weight.

interesting. this one comes with 2 batteries and a charger for $60. Can I assume that these batteries will also work on the DeWalt?

That does look exactly the same as mine.... colors and all. I'd say it's the DeWalt battery version.

I used mine extensively yesterday for about 4 hours, still had charge, chewed through trees and limbs without breaking a sweat or hurting my wrist ..even the DeWalt begins to feel heavy after an hour or so, not this. Used an alcohol wipe to clean the blade gum off a few times, clean and ready to cut. When you reach a limb that maxes it's capacity, it will stall like the DeWalt, just extract and approach same cut from a different angle. A few tries and you can get through 1.25-1.5 inch live limbs.

I'm wondering if this would be beneficial for my mom, who's a florist with carpal tunnel syndrome in her hands. It might be overkill for her though. She's trimming cut flowers and arranging them, not cutting branches off of trees.
