These Amazon Basics batteries don't last more than a handful of recharge cycles or a year. I had to throw them all away. I switched to Eneloops and they are still good many years later.

They have been a mixed bag for me. I use my Eneloop batteries on anything important. I use these and EBL on medium important things and Tenergy on stuff where I just need some juice right now.

My limited experience is they work. You will get the occasional dud ones. Eneloop have better QC, but they will also die. Batteries are consumables.

The key is to get a good charger. Slow charging is best for batteries, don't overcharge and don't let them get hot and they will give you 500 plus cycles. I have cheap chinese batteries that are still working after 20 years of low drain usage.
While this is correct, it's difficult to slow charge NiMH without overcharging them. At low charge rates, it's very hard for the charger to detect when to terminate the charge, often leading to substantial overcharging. Even some of the most highly respected chargers have this problem. It's often better to charge at a more moderate rate (say ~500mA for AA and ~300mA for AAA). This makes it easier for the charger to detect when they're full.

Echoing above. These are terrible. The EBL ones sold on Amazon are awesome, go for those.

For toys, may be it's fine. But for electronic devices that require long standby power (e.g. smart locks, remotes etc.), these are god awful
All the EBL NiMH being sold these days appear to have outright fraudulent ratings. I tested the 2500mAh version and they averaged roughly 1850mAh. The same is true for most other cheap brands, like PowerOwl. Amazon is by far the cheapest brand I've seen that doesn't outright lie about the capacity.

they may possibly be just rebranded eneloops. There aren't many manufacturers of rechargeable AA batteries.
