samsung s25 extremely overheating when charging overnight

1,093 114 June 15, 2025 at 03:52 PM
This is the 2nd time.

I turned off s25 and charging it with samsung OEM charger overnight.

I saw the overheat icon. Then unplug it, but the s25 still not cooling down after 2 hours, until battery runs out.

Why was the problem? This is the 2nd time. BTW, I don't use super fast charging.

My s22 never had this problem

I'm no expert, but it seems to me that if these symptoms occur even when the device is off, it is likely to be a hardware issue. I would recommend contacting the company that sold you the phone. take care!

Try setting the battery to stop charging at 80 or 90% and do not turn it off while charging.

The S25 was only released four months ago if I'm not mistaken.

Surely it's under warranty. Just take it back and exchange it in my opinion. Sure it's a bit of a hassle but better than worrying if your phone is going to catch fire or last as long as it should...

I'd tend to agree you should consider warrantying your phone with a few caveats.

Why are you turning the phone off to charge it?
Typically when cell phones are powered off they default to much dumber charge logic that cares less about long term battery health (and ignores options like disabling superfast charging). Which could be more likely to result in overheating / overcharging.

I'd suggest going into settings and enabling one of the Battery Protection options to reduce over charging. You could also disable fast charging in the phone settings.

In my experience, a bad cable usually doesn't result in overheating but it could. If it were cable issue causing overheating I'd expect it to be hot near the cable / connector not the entire phone

After having an OEM charger capable of rapid charging, rapidly inflate my battery I avoid even fast charging most of the time. I use a fast charger in the car when travelling and occasionally other times.

You should also try a new cable and a different charger.

If it's also overheating when it's turned on, you should check what apps using your battery / cpu and make sure you didn't install something sketchy that's crypto mining.
