Boost Mobile [boostmobile.com] has 512GB Motorola edge+ 2023 Smartphone (Boost Mobile Locked, Black) on sale for $59.99 + $60 1-Month Unlimited Talk/Text/Data Service = $119.99. Shipping is free.

This phone is now back in stock at Boost. It's a steal at this price still has better specs than most phones out there especially with 512gb of storage. I bought one on last years deal and was able to unlock it via one of the unlockers who were kicked off of eBay. Many didn't have the unlock codes yet back then but would assume their available now. YMMV. I currently use mine with Instabridge esim for 5gb of free data a month. Just bought another for my wife.

Note, on product page select "I don't want protection" or Boost Protect will be added to cart at $12/month.

Specs (source [motorola.com]):
Processor: Qualcomm SM8550-AB Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4 nm)
Display: 6.7" 1080x2400 165Hz pOLED
RAM: 8GB LPDDR5X
Storage: 512GB
Operating system: Android 13
Battery: 5100mah
Cameras:
Rear Camera Hardware - 50MP, 1/1.5" optical format, f/1.8 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size | Quad Pixel Technology for 2.0µm, Omni-directional PDAF, Optical Image Stabilization, 50MP Ultrawide angle (114° FOV), Macro Vision, f/2.2 aperture, 0.64µm pixel size | Quad Pixel, Technology for 1.28µm, 12MP Portrait (2x telephoto), f/1.6 aperture, 1.22µm pixel size, Ambient Light Sensor

Just got my phone, so I should first activate it w the boost sim, put in another sim from a different provider, unlock code dialog will pop up, than use the code I get from the unlock service? Is the code only good for one use? In other words if I put another different SIM in, what I have to pay again? Should I unlock bootloader and flash Retail before or after the unlock? This 'unlock' is only for different SIM carriers, correct? And the bootloader I would have to request from Motorola themselves?
no it will be unlocked permanently

Tip #1
Use Software Fix (Rescue & Recovery) if you want to skip having to do software updates one by one
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/...stant-lmsa

Install desktop software, enable usb debugging on device (tap build # 7 times), power off phone. with usb cable connected to PC hold volume down on phone and connect cable to phone. software fix will identify your phone in fastboot mode, download the latest update, and fresh install it.

Tip #2
If you plan on unlocking your bootloader and want to skip waiting 1 week for OEM unlock to be available, you need to skip everything during initial setup, don't connect to wifi or insert sim. setup developer mode, and OEM unlock will be available to toggle.

You were going to buy it if the plan was $60, like everyone else, right?

It's possible you're prorated to day#31 of a 31-day month, who knows.
Actually, I don't think I was going to buy if I had to pay $120+ as I don't really need another phone. But if the total cost was only around $60+, then I definitely would. But I'm thinking the $2 plan is too good to be true and they'll probably find a way to charge me $60 later.

You're probably right that the $2 is some pro-rated charge for 1 day of service of the $60 premium plan. Just really weird why they would charge like that on existing account with no active lines. Has anyone else tried to buy the phone on an existing boost account with no active lines and seen the same charge?

How do they charge you later?
There could be a chance that they would mark the phone as Lost/stolen.

I bought mine as a $59.99 customer upgrade, not with a new plan, so i don't know the full terms. But from reading the thread, there doesn't appear to be any agreement to keep the service for X or XX months. From Boost's perspective, the phone is locked to them for 365 days, so if you quit immediately -- again, from their perspective -- the phone will be useless to you, and they are dumping these "old" excess inventory items.

I don't think they can/will blacklist the phone unless you somehow cancel out of the first month completely or never activate. Try loading your cart again tomorrow & see if it's still $2.

I heard that all Tracfone Moto phones are bootloader locked, so I bought this one to root and install LineageOS.
I've already connected to Wi-Fi, activated the SIM, and unlocked the network using an unlock code.
However, 'OEM unlocking' is still grayed out. (And then, I just read #578)
Did I mess up?

You dodged a bullet, imo. Let's say they prorated to $2 as your previous billing cycle ended in a day, so they only charged you $2 based on when you ordered. But by the time you activate the phone, you will be well into your next cycle, so you will have to pay for the full month of service plus the $2 you paid for the previous month. At best, they may roll that $2 into the next month, but I don't think they will let you activate the line unless you pay for the month. And if you don't activate, they will charge your credit card for the full price of the phone ($599) months later, or send you to collections if the charge is declined.

No idea why you think they might flag the phone as lost/stolen.

I don't think that has ever happened. I bought several phones in the past and never activated them. Nothing happened

Happened to many people in the Edge Plus 2022 thread.

Remove the sim card and use the Software Fix software to factory restore, should get you the OEM unlock toggle immediately after skipping all the setup options.
Also recommend requesting the bootloader unlock code before ever registering a google account on the phone, the reason being the moto site mentions using the same google account tied to the phone to make the request, without ever having signed into an account I've been able to receive the codes by creating motorola accounts with throwaway instant emails.

Are these steps also working for hsn/qvc Tracfone Moto phones?

OEM unlock toggle is only 1 step of the bootloader unlock. Although the toggle is available in developer options menu for TracFone (Verizon) variant phones, Motorola is under contract to not provide the bootloader unlock code for any Verizon or AT&T based carrier device. To put it simply TracFone bootloader can not be unlocked.

If I bought this phone, I would definitely be activating it since this is required within 30 days of purchase per their terms or else they may charge their full MSRP price of the phone ($359.99). So that wouldn't be an issue for me.

It's the next day, and I'm still seeing the $2 charge for the unlimited premium service.
