Boost Mobile [boostmobile.com] has 512GB Motorola edge+ 2023 Smartphone (Boost Mobile Locked, Black) on sale for $59.99 + $60 1-Month Unlimited Talk/Text/Data Service = $119.99. Shipping is free.

This phone is now back in stock at Boost. It's a steal at this price still has better specs than most phones out there especially with 512gb of storage. I bought one on last years deal and was able to unlock it via one of the unlockers who were kicked off of eBay. Many didn't have the unlock codes yet back then but would assume their available now. YMMV. I currently use mine with Instabridge esim for 5gb of free data a month. Just bought another for my wife.

Note, on product page select "I don't want protection" or Boost Protect will be added to cart at $12/month.

Specs (source [motorola.com]):
Processor: Qualcomm SM8550-AB Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4 nm)
Display: 6.7" 1080x2400 165Hz pOLED
RAM: 8GB LPDDR5X
Storage: 512GB
Operating system: Android 13
Battery: 5100mah
Cameras:
Rear Camera Hardware - 50MP, 1/1.5" optical format, f/1.8 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size | Quad Pixel Technology for 2.0µm, Omni-directional PDAF, Optical Image Stabilization, 50MP Ultrawide angle (114° FOV), Macro Vision, f/2.2 aperture, 0.64µm pixel size | Quad Pixel, Technology for 1.28µm, 12MP Portrait (2x telephoto), f/1.6 aperture, 1.22µm pixel size, Ambient Light Sensor
Front Camera Hardware - 60MP, f/2.2 aperture, 0.61µm pixel size | Quad Pixel Technology for 1.22µm

It's been a week and not activated yet... Should I activate early or later.. how charging per month works? From the day of activation?. Also I can't buy additional as well without activation right?
Why would you not activate it asap? Per their terms, activation is required within 30 days or else they may charge the full MSRP price of the phone. I'm not sure what you think may be the benefit of activating it later.

You dodged a bullet, imo. Let's say they prorated to $2 as your previous billing cycle ended in a day, so they only charged you $2 based on when you ordered. But by the time you activate the phone, you will be well into your next cycle, so you will have to pay for the full month of service plus the $2 you paid for the previous month. At best, they may roll that $2 into the next month, but I don't think they will let you activate the line unless you pay for the month. And if you don't activate, they will charge your credit card for the full price of the phone ($599) months later, or send you to collections if the charge is declined.
If I bought this phone, I would definitely activate it asap so that wouldn't be an issue for me. I'm not sure why one wouldn't activate the phone (resellers trying to keep the box sealed?).

But yes, I think you are right about eventually having to pay $60 for another month of service to activate the phone. So I would be paying an extra $2 on top of what everyone else is paying for a single phone. If I decide to buy, maybe I'll just create a new boost account with a different email address to keep things simple.

Remove the sim card and use the Software Fix software to factory restore, should get you the OEM unlock toggle immediately after skipping all the setup options.
Also recommend requesting the bootloader unlock code before ever registering a google account on the phone, the reason being the moto site mentions using the same google account tied to the phone to make the request, without ever having signed into an account I've been able to receive the codes by creating motorola accounts with throwaway instant emails.
Thank you for the advise.
I will try that method.

There is official lineage os support for this phone. I was wanting to use it and assumed I would need to unlock bootloader but people are mentioning this might be a problem on this phone?

I heard that all Tracfone Moto phones are bootloader locked, so I bought this one to root and install LineageOS.I've already connected to Wi-Fi, activated the SIM, and unlocked the network using an unlock code. However, 'OEM unlocking' is still grayed out. (And then, I just read #578)Did I mess up?
how did you activate the sim? need to send/receive SMS? or can be done fully online only?

Fully online.

Powered on the Moto Edge+ and completed the initial setup, including logging into Google. Then I inserted the SIM card.
Opened an email from Boost Mobile and clicked "Activate your service," then followed the instructions.
The IMEI number was already preloaded, so I only needed to enter the SIM card number to activate the service.(I got a new number, not port-in)

I had to reboot the device several times to ensure that calling, texting, and data were working correctly. It took some hours.

Whole thing was straightforward.

Bought on 7/31, arrived 8/2, activated 8/3, unlocked 8/6. I'll use Boost's data for a month since I paid for it, may port the number at the end of said month for another phone deal, and make this phone my new backup.

One of the better slickdeals I've seen in a while, $134 OTD for an 8 Gen 2 phone with 512GB storage and a screen the size of an S23+.

Solid.

If it ends up costing $2 extra, that's not bad. It's worth the gamble that you might get away with paying $62 instead of $120, if you activate and cancel immediately "due to poor reception" or whatever. If you think $122 is a fair deal, i'd definitely try the $62 hail-mary.

Not a problem just flashed lineage OS myself. Skip all steps during first start up. Toggle oem unlock, pull code in fastboot mode, submit to moto unlock site, unlock bootloader. then using software fix update to latest Android 14, download latest RETUS Android 15 from lolinet, unzip and rename folder to match dish Android 14 latest release folder then replace A14 folder with renamed A15 folder in ProgramData/RSA/Downloads/RomFiles. run recovery again and you will be on A15 RETUS. from there follow 10 step guide on the official lineage website. read all instructions and footnotes twice. LineageOS 22.2 requires A15 base. And Lineage 23.0 just had its first test build published for the Edge could be having a stable A16 in a few weeks.

A16 would be awesome. I'm using. 22 currently, but having MMS issues. There's no RCS due to custom, and I haven't messed with magisk in many years.

Do you remember the number you called? Boost doesn't work in my area, too many dead zones.

How did you get the money back? In their t&c it states that you need to port in your number & be on auto pay to get the refund..

"Boost Mobile offers new customers a 30-day money-back guarantee on their Service (Device returns are handled separately, if applicable). Activation fees are non-refundable. Additional fees may apply. Eligible accounts must be enrolled in autopay and port-in their phone number to qualify. If you're not satisfied with your Boost Mobile Services, you may contact us by calling Boost Mobile Customer Care at 833-50-BOOST (833-502-6678) within 30 days of account creation and let us know the bad news. Once you've canceled your Services, your first monthly plan charge amount will be refunded to the payment method on file for your account. Add-Ons (such as Hotspot or Global Talk & Text) bought within the first 30 days are also eligible for a full refund. However, any services purchased after the cancellation request won't be refunded. Note: If you have Boost Protect, you'll need to pay a prorated charge for it."

They just ask if number was ported you say yes. They refund and credit account for the month of service.
