Boost Mobile [boostmobile.com] has 512GB Motorola edge+ 2023 Smartphone (Boost Mobile Locked, Black) on sale for $59.99 + $60 1-Month Unlimited Talk/Text/Data Service = $119.99. Shipping is free.

This phone is now back in stock at Boost. It's a steal at this price still has better specs than most phones out there especially with 512gb of storage. I bought one on last years deal and was able to unlock it via one of the unlockers who were kicked off of eBay. Many didn't have the unlock codes yet back then but would assume their available now. YMMV. I currently use mine with Instabridge esim for 5gb of free data a month. Just bought another for my wife.

Note, on product page select "I don't want protection" or Boost Protect will be added to cart at $12/month.

Specs (source [motorola.com]):
Processor: Qualcomm SM8550-AB Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4 nm)
Display: 6.7" 1080x2400 165Hz pOLED
RAM: 8GB LPDDR5X
Storage: 512GB
Operating system: Android 13
Battery: 5100mah
Cameras:
Rear Camera Hardware - 50MP, 1/1.5" optical format, f/1.8 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size | Quad Pixel Technology for 2.0µm, Omni-directional PDAF, Optical Image Stabilization, 50MP Ultrawide angle (114° FOV), Macro Vision, f/2.2 aperture, 0.64µm pixel size | Quad Pixel, Technology for 1.28µm, 12MP Portrait (2x telephoto), f/1.6 aperture, 1.22µm pixel size, Ambient Light Sensor
Front Camera Hardware - 60MP, f/2.2 aperture, 0.61µm pixel size | Quad Pixel Technology for 1.22µm

Not covered under warranty.Same with Pixels, and likely most other manufacturers. They sell them as IP68 certified, but don't cover water damage under warranty.

It fell about 6 inches into a non-saltwater pool for literally 1 second. I was in the pool to catch it, and I even turned it off immediately. I've seen posts on reddit that are similar to my situation. There is just no way this thing is remotely close to ip68. edit-- It will charge and turn on, but touch screen doesn't respond and it just resets into a boot loop until the battery dies. I've had it sealed with silica packets for like 2 weeks now and it hasn't helped.

looks like we can't trust water because moto will not honor warranty

you might be able to get damage refund through your credit card.

I know my mastercard has accident damage reimbursement

No manufacturers, that I know of, cover water damage under warranty.Including my $1,200, MSRP, pixel 9 Pro XL.

DEFINETLY slickdeal user error.

then searched to find one other case on reddit...who also 100% user errord it.

alo reddit guy admitted his error

I think it was my fault for blowing into SIM tray while it was wet. Otherwise I've never had any issues with water with this phone.

My phone gets wet very often never had any problem, this time my dumbass thought it would be a good idea to blow into the SIM tray to remove the water, but it just pushed the water inside.

And btw I went to the service center, they fixed it.
i'm sure slickdeal guy saw this but didnt post it in order to slander the phone

I certainly wouldn't go around getting my phone wet on purpose but I also wouldn't worry about it. 100% likely the phone can go forever without really getting wet if you're careful (I dont think my daily driver One Plus has) but you also dont need to be psychotic about it, it will be fine

You can remove Boost, or other, preinstalled apps without root.
I just removed the Boost apps using Canta.

Not sure if you mean me, but I'm not slandering this phone. I'm back in this thread because I still liked it enough to buy a 2nd one. Warranties don't cover liquid, and Boost insurance deductible and cost I think is more than just me buying a 2nd. I'll check with my credit card though, that's a good idea. Really just trying to save others from my mistake.

You can buy Moto Care Accidental Damage Protection from Motorola available for 60 days following device activation date. Says it Covers Physical Damage/Screens and Water

https://www.motorola.com/us/en/moto-care/

Price: $35 – $229 depending on device

Deductible: $29 – $100 for repairs covered under ADP

Prob cheaper to just buy second phone.

Just destroyed my Motorola Stylus 5g 2022 by jumping into a pool last weekend... It was the 6gb ram model I got from Metro back then, only took 6 months to unlock too. This 2023 edge+ looks really tempting but then again we'd only get about 3 years of support before the old OS won't support majority of the new apps as they do with every phone out there...

Edit: I meant to say this phone will have 3 years of support left, but 6 years when new.

This Edge+ has Official LineageOS support pretty easy to install it once motorola support ends.

This phone does NOT have 6 years of support. Maybe rephrase so people don't interpret it as years of support from moto. But rather Google dropping OS support for A15 or A16 long term.

The G Stylus 2022 does NOT have an official IP68 rating, whereas the Edge 40 Pro/2023 Plus does.

Considering my LG V30 from 2017 is on Android 14 custom, official updates are insignificant to me. This phone will likely be too slowly or battery shot in 6 years regardless. It only has 8gb RAM.

No phone warranty covers water damage. Nice try. If you take iPhone with water damage to Apple they will not replace for free. Applecare can cover damage, but that is a paid service and not the standard warranty. Idk why so much misinformation on Slickdeals when it's so easier to verify information online lol.

It is called an IP rating. iPhones and Galaxies are NOT waterproof. Phones are water resistant. IP ratings are for FRESHWATER not chemical or saltwater. These are not the same things. Chemically treated water is not what IP67/68 are intended for, so using in that situation is YMMV.

There are reports of iPhones also malfunctioning in pools and unintended use cases.

No one is replacing any phone with water damage for free in the USA under standard warranty. IP68 is not for all types of water. Many people misunderstand the rating and assume it's for any type of water or liquid.
