They're going to run a hard credit inquiry. They always do. But that's what credit is for isn't it? I never understood why are you penalized for using it, and why does your score go down when you open a new line of credit. I could understand why it hurts you if you don't pay, but whatever.
If you look at the indicators it makes perfect sense. Age of credit is a huge factor and when you open a new line or loan it lowers your average age of credit immediately. It's temporary.
If it wasn't for heard inquiry, people would be opening new credit cards like buying groceries every day. I don't like it either but think it's necessary.
Uh, they still need to be approved. More likely it's to discourage people from over-applying for credit cards.
I think a hard inquiry for a credit card will stay on your report anywhere from 12-24 months, while one for an auto loan or mortgage only lasts about 60 days after the initial pull but, unlike for credit cards, for those loan types you can do multiple inquiries in that period without additional penalty.
That said, if you're good with credit, the hard inquiry effect will work its way off sooner than that 12-24 month period.
they will run your credit and deduct around 3pts or so...
So? For some people it's even more. Could be 10 points each on 2 out of 3 credit monitoring agencies. But it's only temporary. People who freak out over it are insane.
this is about as high of a SUB as this card gets, i think. fairly easy decision if you use amz and don't have it. i agree it should have some kind of discount/bonus for paying for prime, rather than the other way around of this being a "bonus" you can only get with prime, but i digress..
i remember the dumbest one was when we put recently $7000 for a medical procedure on a new citi custom cash card with 0% intro apr (limit around $10k), and it instantly tanked my score by 20+ pts..when i have a total credit limit of >$200k, an amex gold and platinum (no limit), and score generally around 820 (out of 850)
Generally, if you charge more than 30% of your credit line for that particular card you will see a drop in your score. They see this as using too much of your available credit. Pretty silly if you ask me. 828 FICO here.
Worked for me, even though my credit history is locked. But my credit score is 820 or around there.

bought Apple Watch 10 cellular for 399, applied, got 200 off, then purchased it for 228 after tax, and closed it 5 minutes later.
woot. ! I am pretty sure ive gotten about 2k off chase in last 5 years, 300 bank account, 800 off another credit card after spent 3000 in 3 months, spent it in a day on a car repair, 200 off this. and misc stuff.
chase hates me. as soon as I bought the watch, all the watches jumped 30 dollars in price. strange. guy on phone said 'you opened it 10 minutes ago and closing? thats strange. I said I got the 200 dollar card, it's all I needed' he said ok. well it's closed. thanks. bye.
I highly doubt they seem to put notes, because I keep churning chase. suckers.
whats funny is I dont even have prime, I was simply checking tax price in cart, and it said HERES 7 DAYS FREE! so I redeemed it, and canceled it, and then saw the 200 offer in cart.

same. hell I paid house off 3 months ago, dropped like 30 points, and it already went back up to normal. gotta say chase offered me 20k balance, which isn't bad. my USAA is like 35k and apple is 15k but dont want chase CC. dont like the company honestly. my score is 825/830 depending on which website, creditkarma/wallethub etc, all diff by a few points.
