Microsoft on other hand invested in an emulation solution that allows users to install and play a some of the more popular games from their Xbox/360 library on their modern consoles, but Sony didn't make a similar investment. What Sony offers is merely a method to play some older titles via streaming, but it's not intended to grant access to our old PS3 libraries. This is evident from the fact that it includes games we may have never purchased.
I don't like it either, and I would obviously prefer to be able to play my PS3 library natively on PS4/5, but it is what it is. And at least when a classic game is added to the catalog that can be installed, they grant a license to users who already purchased it for PS3/PSP.
And while you're correct that we can't use PS VR2 to play games designed for PS VR because they utilize very different technologies, PS VR games are still fully playable on PS5; we just need to use the original headset and controllers.
PS4 launched in 2014 and I was still getting great use out of my PS3.

We've played many Resident Evil games (well, husband plays and I watch him play), Dead Space series and the like, but this game…I'm telling you! We had to pause it and turn the lights on and take a little break.
