Anyone used the app to control this? The Midea app is so nice and easy to use, but getting rid of them due to the recall.
Isn't the recall just the drainage? Don't they have a fix kit?

The inlet and outlet hose holes are too close to each other. Not efficient at all.

What's happening, is the unit shares one metal tray from front to back that allows any mold growth (due to poor drainage) to creep into the house along the bottom. There is a plastic tray that hides it from view on the inside, so I'm not sure who first discovered it, but it would be hard for the average user to see it.

What they don't tell you about these is how noisy they are; no good for bedrooms. Even one of the newer 8k BTU Hisense dual hose inverter units is about identical to a bathroom exhaust fan running.
Bought one and returned it the next day, sadly. Really wanted to love it!
They say it's only 39 decibels which isn't bad.

I used to have a Delonghi portable. when that thing starts it is like an jet taking off. Hisense dual hose inverter is much quieter in that regard.

Where does the water go?
The video shows it routed to the condenser where it evaporates and goes out the exhaust tube. Interesting that they then mention the drain. I guess it does both and probably needs draining somewhere really humid.

Makes sense. I thought folks figured out a diy fix by drilling a new drainage hole or midea had a way to either send a fix kit or mail in the unit.

I was trying to get one this summer. Wishing they fixed it and brought it back.

You could get a fix kit or get a $300 refund and just cut the cord. That's more than I payed for it, so money it is.

Makes sense you took it then. Still, such a waste on what seems like a well liked and innovative design.

Agreed. I very much like the inverter air conditioners so we're going to try the GE version that is the opposite form factor. It hangs down on both sides of the window sill and hopefully can't have the same design flaw.

Isn't that one way more expensive and not as generally well reviewed? Or maybe I don't recall the midea details last year as much
