I've had my account since 2021. The cost of lifetime already paid for itself (compared to paying monthly). I use this primarily for new image and video backups as my music library hasn't really changed in years.

The download speed from the app is good. If I had to complain, it does take awhile for a full upload sync, but it has always completed.

I am sure there are elitists who will find something to complain about to justify their own purchases, but I am satisfied with the service. I believe they will be around in the future.

I will answer basic questions but dont want to debate on services...

One more thing. I didnt buy the privacy/encryption addon... for the things I need encrypted, I use cryptomator.

"Windscribe is one such example. Lifetime changed to 10 years."

"10-Year Expiry" Date: While the plan may show a 10-year expiry date within the system, Windscribe confirms that it will automatically renew at the end of that term as long as the account remains active and hasn't been banned.

You are correct to be cynical. Lifetime doesn't mean jack. More often then not, lifetime offers are defunct well before such a deal becomes worth the gamble. #notalllifetimedeals Obviously, there are exceptions. Rare AF. Plex is one. Although the new mobile app is not good, pushing their free streaming garbage and removing the list view of media titles. Looking at spending $99 for for an Infuse lifetime license. Firecore, the company that makes Infuse, has been around since the early Apple TV hacking days, and is liable to exist for the foreseeable future. However, one can never be certain. For more about that issue, see this Reddit thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/com...app_sucks/ I was one of the people affected by the TextDrive disaster. Apparently Dean Allen was a great guy to people who weren't his customers, but sheeeeet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TextDrive I'm sure there are some people who will disagree, but I'm guessing none of those people have been screwed by a lifetime plan cut short.
You just mentioned the only two "lifetime" deals I've purchased.

Infuse Pro and Plex Pass. Both have been worth it, but these are white swans and established companies. I don't trust pCloud at all.

Lifetime usually means up to 10 years to me because these companies are always looking to be sold or they end up going out of business. Once sold, the new owners will change the terms and cancel the lifetime plan.

Windscribe is one such example. Lifetime changed to 10 years.
"We have defined a Lifetime account as 99 years or the lifetime of the account holder, whichever is shorter."

Yeah I got 500 gigs for "life" a few years ago. Surprisingly reliable and useful for schlepping around music files. A few apps support directly playing from your account, like Cloudbeats on iOS or Astiga, unf pretty expensive now, on computers & Android.

Doesn't feel like my smartest purchase, but it makes organizing and accessing file-based collections convenient. They've been around a while. :crosses-fingers:

You can't play your files directly from the app or website?

I had pCloud. I found the interface ancient and extremely slow. I bought because of the hype. It took me many minutes to download a file from their system. Cancelled my subscription and went with backblaze. Just my experience. I don't think pCloud is making the interface updates and file access speed improvements that are necessary.

I purchased 2TB lifetime in 2019. I'm a happy customer. It syncs better and faster than OneDrive for me.

How's pCloud? If someone has to guess, how likely this company will last for more than 3 years. Or this service will still be relevant in 4 years? What I mean is there any upcoming new technology such that the features provide by this lifetime services may not be enough/relevant anymore and will need to pay more to get some new technology feature, etc? Like the price of storage may drop so much such that this price may not be worth it in few year or with next generate of data/internet usage, the current shared link traffic speed may not be enough in few years, etc.
I have used about couple years now, the speed is good for upload and download, no complaints.

Some thoughts around this.
Example: 2 TB of cloud storage 10 years from now is likely going be fairly cheap.
"2 TB Shared link traffic" is where you needed to focus on. This says you only can Download/Upload up to 2TB a month.
I'm Not saying this is a bad deal, just trying to shed light on what you are buying.

Shared link traffic limits only apply to downloads and uploads through links shared with others. Don't think it applies to the traffic generated by one on their own account through upload/download.

From pCloud FAQs

Shared link traffic is the traffic generated when other people stream or download content from your shared links.

I have been a current pCloud customer for roughly 5-6 years now and have not had any service issues. For those wondering how long these guys will stay in business, they seem to be doing well thus far given my experience. That being said, pCloud runs these sorts of promotions on the semi-regular, especially on Black Friday, so don't get taken by FOMO. As far as use, I'm not a tech guy, I just use it to have a back up for my files/photos and it works great for that purpose. Cheers.

Malwarebytes and Windscribe started their businesses with lifetime. Rosetta Stone and Babbel have lifetime models now... pcloud has a monthly membership subscription if that's necessary. Or is this one of those, "I must share my input type of comments?"

Boxx, VPNSecure, SiriusXM, and many other companies, started with lifetime memberships and have either shut down or canceled customers lifetime memberships at some point. There are plenty of other examples of companies who could not afford to keep the lights on just with lifetime memberships.

I still have my Sirius lifetime subscription that I paid $500 for back around 2005. No issues.
