Just picked one up at my local warehouse. They had one on display too with the $499.97 clearance tag. The original price that their system shows is $899.99, which was already a decent price as far as the LG grams go.

For comparison, the MSRP on the similar configuration but with 32GB of RAM was $1,700+ (admittedly unrealistic). Best Buy was clearancing this 32GB RAM configuration for $1440, and a few Microcenter stores which still have them are selling them for $1000.

Oos for me, grab it if you're able. For $500, this is a very solid productivity machine. Love my 17" Gram.

One of my local Costco's shows in-stock so I called ahead to verify. They double-checked and confirmed it is NOT in-stock.

Is there a significant jump between 155h/255h? Looks like single core performance is pretty similar between the 155h/1260p on benchmarks. But jumps to the 255h. Probably a pass. Maybe 32gb would make it more tempting. 1tb SSD is kinda valueless in comparison.
I was just researching this for some productivity laptops for a nonprofit I volunteer with. In the 2xx series top-end performance wise (especially on AC) it's not much of a leap, the big improvements are battery life while keeping mid-to-high performance, and hardware video encoding.

Did they give you a big discount since it was the display unit?

How's the built quality? The resolution is a bit lower than my preference.

It's very light @ 2.87 pounds so clearly not the sturdiest machine

OLED? The idea of this LG line is light with long battery life. Not OLED. Is Apple using OLED? OLED is so impractical.
Apple is not using OLED yet... Rumour has it the next gen MAC pros will use tandem oleds (which they have finally introduced to iPads some 5 years after Samsung started doing the same...). Also in what way is OLED impractical? I am writing this on an amazing OLED laptop screen. Burn-in really isn't an issue anymore unless you do some stupid things with it (and even then...) and battery wise if you do some basic changes (dark mode enabled everywhere, it anyway looks much better on an OLED) you will get similar performance.
All that said I agree the other person is completely off the mark, at 500$ I think a good IPS screen is just fine, especially since this is not a gaming machine so the only use cases where you would really see a benefit is videos. For office work and general browsing IPS actually beats OLED, especially for text clarity you want better than FHD and that eats battery (but realistically by not being lunar lake you have already lost the battery life battle here anyway).

"oled color reproduction has to be experienced in person instead of watching youtube etc." - I mean, pretty much every iphone or samsung phone people buy in the US these days has an oled screen. It's not like this is something people haven't seen before. Yeah, oled looks nice, but majority of people won't mind having an ips panel on a laptop. Not a deal breaker.
He does have a bit of a point. With these things it is more on a comparison level, if you are used to IPS screens OLED will look like a major improvement, which is why for phones IPS screens only really exist on budget models anymore. For laptops if you haven't seen an oled this will look like a decent screen, but watch a movie on this machine and on basically any oled laptop and I am willing to bet you will notice quite a bit of difference. At 500$ though and for a productivity machine I agree with you this IPS is perfectly fine and perhaps even preferable.
