Don't add that free mounting from Handy. You're rolling the dice to get someone competent to mount your TV. I tried twice through Handy, first time they never came, second time I wish they didn't. TV is not level, multiple holes in my walls, and I have to get it remounted.

65" G3 got clearanced online at Best Buy and Amazon in early December for $999. G3 is a better TV than C4. Also I'm pretty sure there was a wild deal for the 77" C4 a couple weeks ago at Sam's Club for $1199.

So yeah, there will be better deals than this one, come end-of-year.

What's the best way to add an extended warranty with the LG store? 1 year scares me and it's not clear if I can sign up for LG Premium Care after purchase.

During checkout, you will have the option to add 2 or 3 years extended warranty (through Asurion).
Also, if you are paying with credit, you might get an extra year of warranty! Check with the card issuer.

As they lose the war against 2025 TCL mini-LED's, all OLEDs are about to get a whole lot cheaper. I can wait.

Is this the deal of the year for a 65" LG OLED? Can't imagine a Black Friday deal is any better
I can. 2025 TCL mini-LED's have only been out a month and are already driving OLED prices down.

I'm deciding between this LG C4 and the Samsung S90D from this deal. After reading numerous reviews, it seems most of them recommend the Samsung, mainly because the 65-inch S90D uses QD-OLED while the LG relies on WOLED. I know there have been some reports about a potential power supply issue with the Samsung, but it appears to be rare—there are thousands of positive reviews and only a few mentions of power supply failures. Does anyone have more insight into how widespread this issue really is, or any other factors I should consider?

This is the deal I chose over the costco one because even though you dont get the new fancy remote and wifi6. It made no difference to me since I use Apple TV and ethernet. Plus my CC gives me an additional year of warranty AND the cost difference was too much

If you value Dolby Vision, S90D does not support it!

According to the rtings compare tool they are extremely similar in performance so I'd go with the one that is less likely to fail if it was me but maybe your tolerance for tv exchanges is higher than mine. Good luck.

it honestly depends on what kind of NERD you are.
i'm an IT nerd, so i bought the LG because it can be rooted (if you're lucky with the firmware the panel gets shipped with) and you can do pretty nerdy things with the panel that way. more importantly, for me, was their Home Assistant integration.
if you're a video quality nerd, then according to rtings, the Samsung s90d will edge out the LG C4 but i truly think that after seeing my panel, and their test panel, they might've gotten a dud. i didn't (& continue to not) experience any of the 'cons' they gave the C4.
either way, unless you care about the very specific, niche things like home assistant integration, it won't matter after like a month or so. it'll still be your new TV, and you'll keep grinning like an idiot whenever you're watching something neat with dark scenes.

I've never heard of rooting a TV, what extra things does that get you that you wouldn't be able to otherwise?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

for ME, it's having the TV be able to communicate to home assistant whether or not it's playing HDR or SDR content. i still haven't had a chance to set that up, but going to be an important component in my plans to automate HyperHDR.

for other people, i guess the primary reason why would want to root their TVs would be to install any one of these apps: https://repo.webosbrew.org/apps/

but listen, at the end of the day, it's just a TV and we're just wasting our lives sitting in front of it rotting our brains. i need to keep reminding myself of that.
for most people, whether or not their TV is rooted won't matter. i just needed my home assistant server to know whether or not the thing is playing SDR or HDR content.
